Having second thoughts about the Club House

I am supposed to go back to the Clubhouse - Wellness Center for the second time.
I’m having second thoughts about going.

The people there seemed so low functioning.
I would have very little in common with them.

Maybe @anon62973308 is right.
A support group might be a better choice for higher functioning people.

I’ll go just to check it out again but I don’t think that it’s the right place for me.

That’s pretty much how I felt when I went to the one here. My husband just laughed about me being elitist, but I seriously couldn’t see myself making meaningful connections with the several people I met and if I couldn’t make connections, what’s the point?

I’m curious what gave you the impression they were very low functioning ? Withdrawn you mean ?

I had the same conclusion when I went to a support group. It was for people who could not do much at all.
Then I also went to the club house to volunteer but it was pretty terrible.

I don’t know, I really can’t judge since I’ve only quickly checked out the place once.

But many of them were overly friendly with me and most of them were sitting on the couch with their coats on (it was warm inside)

It was the impression or vibe I got, but I never took the time to converse with them.

I’m going back this week some time and I’ll get a better sense.

My psychiatrist said that I shouldn’t care so much even if they were low functioning.

Good luck, try to start a conversation with them and see how it goes…
