If I took an hour out of my smartphone time and meditated and read instead for that time it might help my health
I am on here about 8 hours a day. I don’t think 7 hours would make a difference.
I don’t own a cell phone…never texted a message.
I’m quite happy with my minimalist existence. ![]()
I was addicted to YouTube on the phone. Found it hard to break the addiction but then got the idea just not to YouTube at all until 5pm. I surmised that my brain would be rested from it during the night’s sleep so if I didn’t go to YouTube at all after waking up and keep away from it totally until 5pm then that would be easier. It worked, the addiction is broken now.
The addiction has weakened during the night’s sleep so just don’t use it at all until say 5pm. That’s easier.
I had serious problems with stress using a smart phone, maybe in great deal because of OCD tendencies towards digital media. Now I only have a dumbphone. And I set up my desktop so that internet can’t be used between 22:30 and 08:00 in the morning. I also put in a couple of breaks in the daytime. My habits have improved.
I’d be happy with an hour or two more per day on my phone. Keep in mind that I mainly use mine for photography and listening to music. Sometimes as an eReader. Practically never for texting.
