My whole family lived through centuries of war in Vietnam. Their is definitely trauma passed down to me.

Very different. The war was more gruesome. On both sides. When you have American trained solders fighting against civilian untrained soldiers who are kids and women fighting Guerilla style. Also the blanket bombing and It was not pretty. Not good for either sides.
It is estimated that at least 350,000 tonnes of bombs or about 5% of land mine bombs remain in Vietnam. At the present clear-up rate of the explosives, it will take at least 300 years to remove the unexploded ordinances from Vietnam’s landscape. Also in Laos and Cambodia.

My dads friends brother was locked in a 5ft concrete box in vietnam for 5 years. He was never the same after that.
He was an educated doctor i believe.

My uncle recently died was also a POW for 10 years in Vietnam

Yeah my cousins never really got to know him like you said - they are never the same. He could not connect to his own kids.

Maybe they should try to blow them in place. I don’t know. They know more about it than I do. We dropped 2.4 million tons of bombs in Vietnam.
Land mine bombs are still active and costly to search and de-detonate all over Southeast Asia. They blow up if you step on it. Workers trying to find them have lost limbs.
Also Agent orange still causing birth defects to this day.
