Your opinion on... war

I will be not specific here. Simply raising a question - overall does wars in your opinion are meaningful?

I believe it’s the least meaningful thing ever. I believe the ones who want wars to happen has psychopatic and narcissistic qualities…

Overall, wars only bring tears, sadness and fear for normal everyday people.

So many wars are an exercise in futility. I think the only good war was WWII. Maybe the Korean War. We dropped thousands of tons of bombs on Germany and Japan in WWII. In Vietnam we dropped millions of tons of bombs.

I grew up in a conservative military family.

My sister and I were raised to have a certain line of thinking.

We were also taught war is a necessary evil.

Now,

As an adult,

Almost all my beliefs have shifted dramatically,

But I still do think war is a necessary evil.

I totally agree with that.

No war ever brought in this world more beauty or good. it creates only bad things.

Sadly the people who creates/initiates war are getting benefits from it. Money and power

It’s ancient.

Older than time.

I don’t think we can avoid it.

Doesn’t mean I like it.

Overall I am against warfare but sometimes they become a necessary evil.

WWII was necessary as an example

Mlk jr called war one of the three great evils.
That and poverty and racism.

I think it’s more complicated. Our militaries nationally hold something together globally that is rather sophisticated. Balance of power

That being said should the US behave the way it does?? Probably not but that gets into politics

Initiating war unjustly is bad. A good way to understand it is as the same as normal personal fighting.

Fighting generally is bad, but if someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night you have a right to defend yourself.

So I’d say needless fighting is bad but there is such a thing as a “just war”, such as in the case of self defence.

In my opinion also there are 3 levels of defence.

1…verbal warning,
2…armed threat,
3…Actual attack.

So for example if someone attacks you you shouldn’t just hit them right away. You should first say “hey back up”… if they come forward you should secondly arm yourself and show that you are prepared to defend yourself. And if they continue to come attack you, you are justly allowed to attack back.

War is raw deal.

Where there is war there is injustice and then after it , this is justified and Justice made.

And who wins they go in history books in good way.

Have you ever see any war which is won and quoted bad.

So my statement goes:

Who knows ? Is group sanity or individual insanity, is insane.

War is always horrible, but sometimes doing something bad is the most ethically correct choice when you need to prevent something truly awful from happening e.g. The Holocaust.

I hate it. And it’s easy to naively think we’re sending grown people at least, but they’re just babies lured in with the hope of a scholarships, camaraderie and travel. It’s so sad. There’s nothing intelligent to say about a massacre.

I hope wars end one day.

War is not good. But literature and movies surrounding that are good apparently…

It’s the 21st Century. Honestly. We should be exploring space but we have poverty and war. It’s rubbish. We don’t need either but some systems give you that good growth without being political but they really do struggle to maintain the human side of things.

There should be no excuses anymore for our easy things that our technology should be able to fix. That is where the politics comes in and it’s rubbish.
