Is thinking that there is cyanide in your stuff OCD?

i think it is because I washed my hands because of it (though only once, not many times)

No. That’s delusional and paranoid

but my friend said it was OCD?? i dont know what to believe

Then ask your dr.

she thinks everything is a delusion or a hallucination so no thx

She’s the one you can trust to diagnose you the most

i dont trust her fully

Try a different psychiatrist. None of us can diagnose you better than a psychiatrist

seem like delusion. in ocd you respond with some kind of logic.

Paranoid delusion. The hand-washing is a reaction to the delusion and indicative that you need anti-psychotics. When I was floridly psychotic I would wash my hands to the point of bleeding because I was convinced alien nanobot tech was on my skin. They made me wear locking mitts I couldn’t remove in the psych ward when I wouldn’t stop damaging my hands because of my delusions.

but i havent been able to fully shake it off even though im on antipsychotics

so im wondering if its just ocd compulsion/obsession

medications not fully remove it but it help you to ignore it. therapy also same but it requires more effort from the user and takes time and effort.

That’s not uncommon. Could last for the rest of your life. The medications will give you insight into the fact your delusional thinking is indeed delusional, but may not remove them entirely. You can learn to tune it out over time. For the last two years I’ve been having increasingly lengthy normal periods without any positive symptoms, but I have had to deal with delusions for the bulk of the last quarter century.

Welcome to the new normal.

Can’t it be an ocd obsession though? And why does it indicate i need antipsychotics

I guess you’re right

I suffer with bipolar/SZA and OCD and I am constantly thinking that others are drugging my food.

Thinking that people are poisoning or drugging your food can be considered an OCD symptom but it depends how far it goes.

Psychosis can intermingle with OCD and amplify these distorted thoughts.

I guess you’re right

Why did my doctor call it a delusion

Because if you lack insight then it’s usually a delusion.

Well I lacked insight but not anymore
I still wash my hands though bc of it

Some delusions are hard to completely shake off, even with medication.
