Is there any help in Europe?

I am SzA, and neither a refugee nor a citizen in Latvia. But I got a residence permit here. During the last year, I have been looking for any opportunity to join the society of this country. Treatment, stable job opportunities (obvio, to take care of my life and help my husband).

And I got into a ridiculous situation - there are no doctors with experience of treating SzA. The last psychiatrist they helped me find took a vacation and quit. Its been really hard since my symptoms got more severe, because of the influence of social isolation in a small country with a cold mentality. So now I have a humanitarian psychotherapist, to whom you can only come for conversations. But even she said the state doesn’t pay attention to psychiatry. Latvia only occasionally finances psychotherapy without medication. So, even citizens cannot get the proper help of psychiatrist. Therefore, there are a huge number of alcoholics and homeless people here.

And work-wise, there is no work here that doesn’t affect the morning hours. I just don’t function in the morning, regardless of whether I’m on medication or not.

So, how to avoid downshifting with Sz/SzA in Europe? Is there any help?

I’m from a “third world” country outside the EU. But even there you can feel safe, and there is no shortage of medical care and information. And here in Latvia, I feel that even talking about mental illness is taboo, as long as a mentally ill person doesn’t k*ll anyone.

There are psychiatrists in Riga, but their English isn’t great.
MFD has some, and another company I can’t remember, but the name had a 4 in it.

The problem is medicines like antipsychotics are expensive af, so I got stuck with a crappy one that was the only one I could afford.

You can do freelance work on pages like freelancer.com and upwork.com for an extra income

Briton has great psychiatric care. Great doctors and generous welfare payments.

Thanks for your reply!

I speak both Russian and English, and I am currently learning Latvian, but still in some cases my husband helps me with it. Frankly, I didn’t see a psychiatrist from MFD. And is that another company vc4?

If you could only advise a specific psychiatrist , I would be very grateful. Because I’ve already passed a ton of specialists here; we were looking for a psychiatrist with the necessary practice experience through their colleagues. But it didn’t work out.

Actually I’ve tried many antipsychotics, but none of them was more expensive than 50euros/month (and none of them worked due to my resistance lmao). That one you take is crappy because of its side effects or is just weaker?

Despite the fact my programming skill is going well in general, I can’t work at the computer at all (just playing games too). I got income to pay for rent and all that jazz. But I want an official stable job, so don’t have to worry whether this month I will earn enough to survive or enough to live? Kinda extra stress imo.

Do you prefer freelancing yourself?

I’m sorry, but what do you mean by “Briton”? :slightly_smiling_face:

Briton = England

Oh, I see. Thanks. Maybe going to England for treatment would be a better idea

A briton is someone who lives in britain
