Im thinking of trying a new med…but I want one which will help offset my feeling of lack of sociability. I want to be more social…is there an anti psychotic that helps this
The medication Gabapentin (Neurontin) is an anti-seizure med that has off label psychological uses in that it makes the person more sociable and excessively talkative as it’s main side affects. I’ve been taking it for a few years now for the nerve pain in my back for which it really helps to reduce. It is non narcotic and non habit forming. I personally think it makes me more sociable and talkative because it seems to do away with that un-justified paranoia we experience that makes us too guarded in our social expressiveness. It was my general practitioner who prescribed it for my back pain and I have mentioned it to my sz.doc.
@tobornottob12b…btu Neurontin is not a anti psychotic…is it?
No, sorry, I forgot to mention that, but I take it along with Risperdone and Prozac.
Sp you feel the different before neurotin and after it?
Some antipsychotics have better antidepressant properties and are sometimes used to augment antidepressants.
ABILIFY
ZYPREXA
LATUDA
SEROQUEL XR
These APs have pretty strong antidepressant properties - Latuda or lurasidone is FDA approved for bipolar depression
most definently
I have tried 0.5mg Xanax,Xanax is said to be the strongest benzodiazepine but it doesn’t really help me to be more social…
