If one were more serious in your opinion what is it?
Pure schizophrenia is typically more severe. It’s not a rule though. The people on this site who have achieved the most complete recoveries are mostly pure schizophrenics.
I thought schzioaffective people have mood disorders too. Schizophrenia usually doesn’t. Doesn’t that make schizoaffective worse?
You’d think but typically for whatever reason schizophrenia on its own tends to be worse then schizoaffective.
Mania is the killer for SZA. Caused most of my problems. I take a mood stabilizer religiously.
Yeah the prognosis for sz is usually worse.
I have been dxd as sz but manageable other than unusual beliefs which are still unable to overcome.
I do take meds for sz which is aripiprazole I wonder sometimes is it for pure sz. I also take meds of Bupropion, plus Clonazepam as an SOS.
I am able to handle a job at present.
I don’t feel sz has severe impact though.
But people say a stopped clock can’t be wrong the whole 24 hours at two specific times it at the exact correct time.
I also believe when I have wrong thoughts I also have right thoughts is not all taken away.
I am able to manage my condition what ever it’s supposed to be as I know what it’s gonna be.
But if I refer to some other conditions I may not handle it immediately but will need right meds and thoughts to over come them.
Where there is a will there is a way.
Only thing is it takes away lots of time in recovery.
I have lost lots of time but I believe I have recovered with sz by proper support, meds and forgiveness.
Schizophrenia have 13 alphabets is one of my concern. The moment I feel I am doing good is something I need to be more cautious.
Music is a key ! I always listen to music
It takes me up and down in emotions and keep me stable.
I am diagnosed schizoaffective. But I think sz is worse.
Moving to DX’d - Sz/SzA.
My psychiatrist told me that it is schizophrenia with a mood component.
I’ve been told by a few psychiatrists when in PHP that schizoaffective disorder responds to treatment better than schizophrenia. Don’t know if they’re right or why that is.
Here’s what AI had to say:
Schizoaffective disorder combines symptoms of schizophrenia (like hallucinations and delusions) with mood disorder symptoms (like mania or depression). While it might seem more severe due to this combination, research suggests that individuals with schizoaffective disorder may experience better overall functioning and fewer hospitalizations compared to those with schizophrenia
