Is recreational use of pot legal where you live?

We recently got edibles and beverages with THC here in Minnesota last Friday.

Illegal here in England

I live in California. It’s required.

Done. Usually we require 3 cat pics as payment, but I’m really starting to wind down for the day so…just get them if you find time, I may not be around to see them.

Ironically cannabis was always legal in India up until mid 80s when US’s war on drugs gained speed and Indian government started getting pressure for controlling it.

Cannabis in India has been known to be used at least as early as 2000 BCE.
The retail price of cannabis in India was US$0.10 per gram, the lowest of any country in the world.

Yep. Its fully legal in my state recreationally and medically. Ive never been to a dispensary. I used to smoke high cbd low thc hemp buds sometimes but cant tolerate thc anymore since getting psychosis triggered by it. Oddly I smoked weed everyday for a year leading up to my psychosis

It’s legal here in cali. I don’t smoke anymore.

Seattle here. It’s legal and I can smell it at different points when I’m driving.

Cannabis has cultural and religious significance in India. There are government allowed shops where you can buy cannabis edibles.
I find it is mostly illegal. Seizures of cannabis are common.
It should be legalized. It can generate good tax revenue if regulated. Like tobacco and alcohol.

We have legal recreational and medical. I work in a dispensary.

I think our Dutch system is twisted. Not sure, not smoking myself, but I think this is it:

Professionally growing of weed and selling it to a coffeeshop is illegal and not tolerated. It will be punished.

Coffeeshops selling weed, and customers buying and possessing it, is illegal. But it is tolerated and won’t be punished, as long as they stick to certain regulations (e.g. only in coffeeships, no minors, small amount per customer).

So our coffeeshops “magically” get their weed from illegal growers. But then selling it to customers is tolerated, as is buying and using it. If you stick to certain rules, like no minors and a small amount per customer.

Not legal here.

Medicinal use only here in Ohio. I believe recreational comes up on the ballot here from time to time. Yet to pass, though.

They just legalized cannabis in my state about a month ago.

I’ve got mixed feelings about it, primarily because:

  1. Pot is now legalized for states to reap massive profits, not because it helps people manage certain health conditions. Ergo: done for money, not the well-being of constituents.

  2. It affects everyone differently. Even though humankind has been ingesting cannabis for thousands of years, we still don’t fully understand in what ways it can affect individuals. Studies also show that the THC content found in newer variants is several times higher than pot from the 1960’s. THC is a volatile compound for many people, and by cultivating plants containing higher amounts of said compound, we will also see the rise in health conditions brought about by ingesting it. Unfortunately, science-backed studies have been stifled by political, fundamentalist, and corporate agendas— which means that the science necessary to make sure legalization does more good than harm is lagging by several decades, if not more.

  3. On a personal note, I am one of those people who should not touch cannabis. It contributed, in part, to my psychosis. Post-psychosis, I still cannot imbibe as it intensifies symptoms and basically launches me head-first into a full-blown episode. So, I am jealous of people who are still able to enjoy pot without consequences. That’s the honest truth.

I’m already annoyed at the obnoxious hipsters who smoke cannabis in public— partially because it’s “hot” right now, and also because it’s some weird act of rebellion on their part.

I dunno, perhaps I’m just feeling left out of the fun. But I do believe that my state could have just decriminalized pot and kept medical legal. Still benefiting those who need it. Legalization is just for profits, with no concern for the potential ramifications that it will bring.

My two cents.

Canadian here too.

To build upon what @TheCanuk said, its available for both medicinal and recreational purposes.

I don’t use cannabis, but if I did and I was an American I would be nervous about using it even if I lived in a state that legalized it. As I understand it Federal law trumps State law and it’s still illegal federally.

Here in Canada it’s legal in every jurisdiction for both medicinal and recreational purposes.
