Some people are good with these Latin names, recently in the front of the grocery store I met one older man who drinks some beer and he remembered what the Latin name of ‘leskenleipä’ (the widow’s bread) was that he had learned decades ago.
you’re right, they are working on that. I have side effects myself, I get sedated and have akathisia, Geodon screws with my brain and makes my legs restless while the rest of me is sleepy. I take meds for the akathisia and drink lots of caffeine for the sedation.
I would say that this is what occurs WHEN we believe something and not so much that we believe BECAUSE this happens…I find that the few beliefs I have tend to be based on my life experience…yes this is all occurring in the brain…of course…but to look at it as simply that and not take into consideration the whole picture is simplifying it.
I see it sort of like removing the human experience from the equation in attempting to understand the human experience…
cactustomato These might cause some emotions in my mind, love, hate or something else such as happiness or unhappiness, but I still do not think those you mentioned are emotions.
science doesnt believe in
and the law of parsimony says to always look at it simply
science has methods and rules. “Human experience” sounds like some emotional attachment, which is appealing to pathos, while science is an appeal to logos
I do not know where you were when the 9-11 event happened in America in 2001, I was in my auto under one bridge in Miami, but you may have noticed how people reacted to this surprising event, most people felt great sadness and horror and they cried, but soon this emotion turned to the great hate towards some people and all wars started. What do you think? I am still learning to deal with emotions.
I think schizophrenia is more of a thinking problem,if it also consist of emotional issue,it would be schizoaffective, both is quite similar
i think everything is affected when you have a mental disorder.
i was mostly speaking out of my own perspective. in my head even while on antipsychotics i couldnt control my emotions or how i felt about certain things i heard others talking about. also the meanings of what words meant like homonyms tended to become static. someone at panera saying “im going to go get a pastry” the word “pastry” meant something different to me i felt the emotion of fear on hearing the word and associated the fear with thinking the word had to be a code word for something else because the word felt so scary
I don’t think that you can talk or think your way out of having schizophrenia as some people MAY be insinuating on this thread Some of the symptoms are as solid as a rock and entrenched. And we might have even been born with schizophrenia so it’s hard to change your genes in th womb. Maybe genes caused it, maybe environment, maybe cat poop. But I think the symptoms are as tangible as symptoms of other illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. I think you can no more think or “feel” your way out of schizophrenia any more then you can think your way out of cancer. There may be exceptions. They say a positive attitude or a sense of humor has cured a minority of cancer patients.Maybe a minority of schizophrenics can “think themselves” into remission in rare cases.
Nick, some people say attitude is everything, and it is certainly a lot. But I find that I get the best results from a positive attitude along with a treatment regimen, that includes meds and family support. I agree Nick we can never think or feel our way out of schizophrenia, and those that say we can are full of it.
Me too…
my demons are very emotional beings, and the big fluffy white bunny , i am always buying tissues for.
those really big boxes/man hankies…!
take care
You guys need nootropics seriously. For me it used to be like I couldn’t walk straight past another person walking from the opposite direction I felt these weird social impulses uncontrollable because of the SZ… But I learned this lesson man. Stand strong grow some balls identify what are the sex hormones. They make us behave the way we do. Reproduction, yep that is what we’re wired for and wired to do. You have intense competition you can feel deep down inside, well that may be testosterone or if your female estrogen. These have an heavy impact on moods, not so much emotional, because emotional gets complicated. Your talking l-dopa, or dopamine. I take seroquel, and l dopa powder is bad with it, but 5htp stuff just works, who ever thought you could feel the serotonin running through your head. Supplements. Mainly, AMINO acids… 1 year ago I weighed 270lb, I started taking supplements and running a lot on a treadmill, my whole physiology changed, mentally as well. What part of the brain controls body language? This is how I experience life through my perception, perception varies greatly in individuals.
