It has been found in some studies that signs of cognitive disturbance seen in those with sz can be seen as early as early childhood. Some parents of children who later developed sz claim to have noticed something was odd with their child from infancy and noted developmental delays. However there still needs to be more research to solidify all this.

I look back and remember different ocd behavior even as a child. At least at the start of school.
I think the most up to date thinking is that it’s an environmental event hitting a genetic trigger. There is suspicion that this could even be during gestation but yeah they need some better science to figure it all out.
Personally. I had that genetic marker and it seems to me I was on a path to psychosis and schizophrenia from when I was at least 6 years old!

I know I was born with it as long as I can remember I’ve been hearing and seeing things. I think I’ve been able to adjust and adapt to it a bit over the years though.

I was a strange and “imaginative” child but I don’t think we’re born sz I think we may have a genetic predisposition and then we are exposed to something, maybe a virus or hormones, that triggers the onset of full blown psychosis. Then like many other diseases there are differing levels and time frames of recovery. But what do I know, I’m totally just guessing.

I am so certain I was born with it. I had lots of strange behavior growing up. Now that I reflect on my childhood and past I always had it.
they say it happens in the first trimester or thereabouts. im really worried about my 12yo brother, he takes after me. and hes kind of slow developing and other things which might mean hell get it too.
I was born a weirdo cause I was also a strange child.
But I had s moment up to four years of age where I was incredibly outgoing and not the slightest shy.
Apparently I had heaps of friends even with strangers .
I was always in trouble in school. When I was in kindergarten or first grade I bit my principal.
