I had way too many side effects on clopixol so I’m going to be taking Olanzapine soon. But with each 2 week injection I need to be monitored for three hours. Have any of you guys got experience with this drug?
I had good experience with it. It does make you gain weight just like other APs.

I take a low dose of olanzapine (5mg) with my amisulpride. I find doses of 10mg or more make me feel dead and zombie like. And not taking a dose doesn’t help either. But a low dose works well for my depression.
I can’t vouch for others though as everyone reacts differently

I take it orally. It’s been a great drug for me. Works well.

I gained 75 pounds in 3 months on Zyprexa. No, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I think it should be taken off the market.

There was a woman at our assisted living center who got a settlement because Olanzapine gave her diabetes. When I got on the drug it made me crave sugar and want to sleep a lot. I was mildly depressed the whole time I took it. It did handle my symptoms, though. It does what it is supposed to do.

I used to take 10mg olanzapine tablets it worked but I hated the hunger and weight gain.
I loved it as it helped me but it did make me gain weight.
I gained about 26 kg I think.
A bit heavy and sleepy but no other side effects I can think of.
I think it’s a good medication but I don’t want to gain weight like that and even when I was eating tiny amounts I was still fat.
I’m happy on latuda and hope it will continue to work well for me as it has less weight gain.

I took it back in 2003 when I first became ill. It worked I guess, voice went away. But I ballooned and was tired all the time. I’m sorry, I can’t remember the dose.
I took it orally awhile back and it made me very sleepy and gain weight, but also was pretty good for awhile in treating my symptoms. But meds effect everyone in different ways so don’t take my word for its effects

I’ve been on 10mg of olanzipine for 6 months, it’s the best medicine so far. I only get a little restlessness as a side effect.

Knowing it causes weight gain is half the battle. You’ll have to exercise and be disciplined when it comes to food. Easier said than done, I’ve gained about 25 lbs in the 20 years on the drug. It’s the only ap that works for me, I’ve tried others that have led to attempts on taking my own life. Good luck

Kind of but I think it automatically made me gain weight no matter what I ate
im on zyprexa 20 years, weight gain is the main side effect
I was so obsessed with zyprexa, believing that archangel Michael was residing inside of it…
Since I quit zyprexa, I have lost 6 kgs effortlessly.

Of course. Back then I was taking zyprexa, abilify, haldol. Now haldol injection and clozapine orally
