Is Invega a good or a bad med?

I’m considering asking my doc if she could change me to it or something else because I feel like Abilify’s making me stupid and fat. I have tried exercising and eating less but it doesn’t help…

I didn’t like invega. I switched from invega to abilify. Invega is considered a stronger med I think. Sure seemed stronger to me anyway. Made me numb. No pleasure in things. And really felt medicated on it.

oh sounds kind of bad to me, i don’t wanna feel drugged up and numb  what other meds should i suggest to my pdoc? I’m obviously not very knowledgeable

Idk. I think Abilify is one of the good ones. you might have to ask someone else. Aziz always talks about Vraylar being similar to Abilify but better but I think its only available in the USA right now. That would be the only one I would think I’d rather be on. Like I said, might have to ask for someone elses opinion…there are lots to try.

I guess… I feel stuck and have considered quitting meds only because i feel like they increase my intrusive thoughts

I thought about quitting my meds many times early on but it’s not a good idea. you’d probably just end up in the psych ward again. and I know how you hated that.

ive never had positive symptoms tho so i doubt it

Well invega does work, so you could try it despite my personal experiences with it. Some people seem to like it. Maybe you would.

Negatives are alogia, apathy, things like that. Negatives are things that should be present but aren’t. Positives are things that are present but shouldn’t be like hallucinations and such…

My personal experience is invega is poison to ME but might be YOUR MIRACLE. Try the pills first b4 ever received the injection. Invega brought out ENORMOUS amounts of intrusive thoughts for me. Tomorrow I start vraylar. Praying for peace in my mind and yours as well. Hugs

how long have you been on abilify?

I was on the pills for around 2 months then I quit then got hospitalized and was placed on the pills for like a week then injection

My 3rd injection is in ~2 weeks

is it helping your symptoms at all?

Well I’m not delusional but I wouldn’t know if I was and I doubt I ever had delusions

With 100% certainty ive never hallucinated

What was the reason you were put on abilify?

they thought i was delusional and psychotic

Invega is a much stronger med than Abilify, but every brain reacts to every drug differently. I would say invega is the number one complained-about drug on here, though. Latuda is supposedly more mild, and doesn’t come with weight-gain for a lot of people. Abilify is considered the least sedating med for many people, but again, every brain is different. Just because something tends to act a certain way in most people doesn’t mean it will act that way in you.
