Is clozapine a good option

I had a hectic year currently on 6mg risperidone and 200 ml clopixol this is the maximum dose for risperidone in South Africa. I still from time to time get paranoid before taking my meds for about 30minutes. My sex life is non existent now from the clopixol. Is clozapine a good option for me was told by psychiatrist if risperidone doesn’t work that’s the next medication I will go on.what are the side effects compared to risperidone

Hey…yeah there’s a few around but it’s a quiet time of night for the boards which are mostly American based.

Hang in there. You’ll get some responses when the Earth turns around. I’m on zyprexa but clozapine is good for treatment resistant/ still getting positives on other medications. We are all different.

Anyways…be patient…until the European crowd wakes up and the US citizens sleep it’s just us Aussies/Asians who are up and about!

What side effects do you have?

Nothing. Just that i sleep for 12 hours
and i drool

I also take Clozapine. The only real side effect i get from it is excessive drooling overnight. Oh, and it can make you gain weight, it stimulates your appetite similar to Olanzapine. However, if you get Metformin added to the mix, it acts as a bit of an appetite suppressant. I’ve been on it for a few years now and think it’s a great medication.

Do you drool in the daytime or only at night when you sleep?

Especially at nights when i sleep,
but even in daytime, I have more saliva than usual

same here, also on clozapine and i drool at night. besides that it’s pretty good. It really helped me.

ah edit. i also have a hard time holding up my pee… so i wear a pad cause sometimes i pee in my pants a bit.

I take Clozapine. It is very helpful with positive symptoms. :cat::cat::cat:

Clozapine didn’t get along with my system. But it’s worked great for others.

What happened, weren’t you stable on 2mg risperidone? Did you stop your meds or relapsed?

I have been stable on risperdal for 2yrs, I am on 6mg now. I was going to try Clozapine for negative symptoms but hate the frequent blood tests.

I relapsed and now on higher does I’ve never stopped my medication
