I just saw a news story on tv about global warming and I frankly think it is inevitable. I don’t think there’s much we can do about it without major and mean MAJOR changes worldwide. Changes that are not going to happen.
Also, how worried about climate change are you when it does happen?
Some warming is inevitable because of the current amount of carbon in the air, but don’t let the fear get to you. In the time of the dinosaurs the planet was warmer than it is today. Life will go on unless the warming gets insane. But the 1.5C they predict won’t cause the world to come to an end, but it may cause a lot of problems.
We are making progress towards a greener future but it takes time to develop and deploy the technology. I think things are going a little slower than I would like but I don’t think the Earth or humanity is doomed. Hopefully we can get things under control before there are major humanitarian disasters in vulnerable parts of the world, like areas under sea level threatened by melting ice caps.
It’s a concern for me but I am not worried too much…yet.
It’s been happening forever. It could be that we’re in an interglacial period right now and the current warming is holding off the next cold spell. Compelling science for that, too.
If we get our act together I think the planet will heal much faster than people expect. Here are a couple stories that provide hope just from the Covid-19 lockdown and how quickly pollution improved…
i think all people should get on a vegan diet for the animals and environment.
they are developing lab grown meat which is better for environment and animals do not suffer.
there is so much that should be done.
stop deforestation is a big one which main problem is animal factory farming.
i only buy toilet paper that is bamboo or recycled paper, i eat a vegan diet and buy cruelty free (except for my dog).
i am going to try to be more strict on how i shop.
i do not need new clothes now and if i did i should look in a second hand shop first.
clean energy.
i am a wanna be animal rights activist and a wanna be environment activist.
actually i protested with extinction rebellion.
they were a grumpy lot but i agree with what they stand for.
still i beleive in spreading kindness not hate.
they might go about it differently than me.
if i had friends or people i would be active more and i would stand naked or in underwear with signs, give water to thirsty pigs and be a silent witness etc
i want to do what i feel i as a individual person can do.
it is scary stuff and it is overwhelming and devastating.
how to cope with what we do.
change.
we can vote for the environment.
my nephew is getting a tree planted for him for christmas.
i know he will not appreciate it as he and his mum are stuck up thinking they are soooo superior but i want to spend my money well.
every dollar counts and i bought a animal justice party hoodie that i now wear.
I remember when the “hole in the Ozone layer” was going to expand and fry every living thing on the planet. TLDR: It didn’t.
I don’t trust science that is driven by fear. If we’re warming up then it is probably due to solar activity. Hmm I wonder if I can check that someplace? BRB
Whether you believe in climate change or not you should still be trying to lower your environmental impact. We don’t need to be discarding mercury in landfills, dumping sewage in rivers, burying plastic or dumping it in the ocean. All the things you do to lower the volume of trash/crud you generate will also lower your carbon footprint (for those who worry about it). We should be living the cleanest lives we can.
Nope, debunked myself. Solar activity has been decreasing, although apparently there is a sunspot pointing right at us that will heat things up in three days time. Stock up on sunscreen folks!
