Is anyone scared that they are eating themselves to death and disease

They are great, but feel free to eat starches too.

Try limiting fat though, if you want to lose weight. Works a charm.

Thanks for the heads up! I’m probably going to talk to a doctor before I do anything drastic, but I can definitely try to reduce my fat intake.

It’s true omgosh… Going online is tough to find your way through what yo believe… Wat I do is if I read an interesting article… I look it up and with journal at the end of the search engine writing to get some reliable sources like ncbi… Well not always but I try when I can

Fructose to fat (“de novo lipogenesis”) is a very inefficient process. Only about 1.4% of the fructose is converted, and 30% of the calories converted are consumed in the process.

What people are gaining weight from when eating fructose is dietary fat, which readily becomes body fat.

See but then some people will tell you to have a high fat low protein diet.

That’s interesting I learnt differentently… Do you have a source from where you got this from. I’ve never known that

Lol there’s hundreds of diets

Yeah, I was on Abilify once and it was tough. Zyprexa is not that much better. I’ll share this pro-tip: If you’re really craving sugar, eat something with protein – even if it’s a protein bar or a protein shake. It really does help cut down on cravings.

Losing weight is hard enough, and I think once you’re on meds it’s harder . . . but with a commit to health it can be done. I am proof of that. You can be, too. Good luck, and keep me updated.

Thanks I will work hard on it
I have heard that protein is meant to be very satiating so that makes sense.
I hands down honestly believe its real hard when you can’t do intensive exercise or even just moderate Excerise anymore… It regulates appetite somewhat I don’t know how true this is but from my personal experience

Sure, https://paleoleap.com/science-turning-carbs-to-fat-de-novo-lipogenesis/.

" They found that the carb-overfed women stored about 282 grams of body fat per day, but only 4 grams of it came from de novo lipogenesis. De novo lipogenesis accounted for a measly 1.4% of their fat gain."

The thing about the high fat, low / high protein diets is that they are heart disease / cancer risks. People who adhere to those diets seem to be gambling with their health. Keto diets are not very highly ranked as a result.

OK so you’re right denovolipogenesis from carbs it’s not so much fat gain in comparison to total fat gain but it still speeds up de novolipogenesis 6 fold in men and 2-3 fold in women in these two studies that’s quite a high rate. And as it says towards the end of that article… This has serious implications for our liver health .

That’s only if there is 50% overfeeding. Generally if you just eat till full with the McDougall diet that won’t happen, it’s very hard to overeat in calories with a low-fat, low-protein diet.

I’ll get a small bowl of oatmeal and put five tablespoons of sugar on it. It’s not too different from eating sugar. I have an unbelievable craving for sugar. I’m not showing any signs of diabetes, but my triglycerides are through the roof. My heart is probably encased in fat.

Yeah, I totally get it. Today I ate so many recees. I feel bad about it. Am debating whether or not I should share this with my mom. I gave them to my brother so I wouldn’t be able to eat any more of them, but by the time I gave them up, there were only a few left in the bag. I didn’t even realize I had eaten so many. I would just grab a couple when I walked by, but of course they added up throughout the day.

Do you eat all food groups like dairy as well. Just wondering.
I’m trying to cut out dairy. I’m not suggesting this to anyone btw but I think dairy is maybe not suitable for me… Obviously I’m not sure but it’s an experiment

I eat only plant foods, and try to keep it low fat.

I had a few bowls of mashed potatoes and broccoli for lunch, for example. Used cashew milk to mix the mash, and no extra butter.

I’m on abilify and have gained 70 pounds, so I can definitely relate. But why don’t you try to switch meds.

I like eating oily fish and chicken as well… Wild salmon is tasty

Yes, I have a bottomless appetite!
I am constantly eating carbs.
Can’t stop!

With me I know it’s the Depakote that increases my appetite.

But I have to be on this med to remain somewhat stable.
