My thoughts are pretty different from the auditory hallucinations I’ve had…
Thoughts have almost no volume. Hallucinations have normal volume.
Yes, that makes sense. Thoughts seem to take up space as well, like you can’t have more than one thought in the same space, like you can’t have more than one train on the same track in the same place
Yes, I sometimes have auditory, but I have more visual. Patterns in fabrics swirl and move, shadows and bugs in my peripheral, walls/ground breathe, objects swell up and fall.
This is a lot more similar to how I feel most of the time
Sometimes the edges of things appear smeared or blurred, as well. I get these weird distortions around things sometimes too that I don’t really know how to describe, especially if it’s a sharp edge backed by a skyline, like buildings and telephone wires. Sorta the circles that looks like refractions in places where they wouldn’t be
Exactly. Perception of the environment. I have this all day, every day. It does scare me sometimes because I don’t know if it’s real or not, but I’ve asked others if they see it and they dont, so I guess it’s just me.
I get paranoid about my symptoms, and they get worse. I find that’s most of what I think about.
I’ve seen shadows that I thought were real figures, but I guess that isn’t an hallucination. When I hallucinated I would hear things like a person three blocks away talking about me, or hear someone talking about me when there is no one around. I didn’t really hear voices inside my head
I have visual and auditory.
The visual used to be solid things… like a person… as solid as anything… but here and gone with the blink of an eye. Or the worst for me… fire… I would see things on fire a lot.
I’ve also had a few were I could see an outline around people or objects…
Now it’s just been things out of the corner of my eye… there’s been a floating cat… just a cat… floating around. Other random stuff just out of the corner of my eye… that is gone when I try to see it straight on.
I have visual disturbances(?) that I’m not sure really count as hallucinations.
- I get deep black circles outlined in electric blue in my near periphery - in front of me but not straight on.
- Also pulsing paisley-ish shadows across my full field of vision. I can see through them without any trouble and mainly ignore them.
- Patches of translucent color, mainly pink - I worried for a while that I had stained my clothes in the wash before I realized the pink was everywhere I went.
- Lately a lot of spinning pinwheels of light and dark
- Something that looks like dripping liquid along the borders of my vision
I was worried that I had a detached retina, but the ophthalmologist says it’s all okay and can only assume migraine auras. No pain, though.
I also have things that are closer to hallucinations - I used to see people walking in my periphery all the time. I see cats where there are no cats. Sometimes even when there are cats, they seem like more cats, and more alien than they are: two cats seem like many, and they seem like an infestation rather than pets, and I have to stop and focus in order to see them properly.
And also the floor will sometimes undulate. Normally this doesn’t bother me, but sometimes it gets so violent that I don’t know how to put my feet down to walk. Even though I know the floor isn’t moving, the only way I can walk is to look up and away from the floor, or to close my eyes.
I also have started seeing words improperly when reading, usually seeing something disturbing when I first look, only to look closer and see the real, innocuous word.
I’d always figured these things to be mainly normal, and sometimes subthreshold. Attenuated hallucinations, maybe? I’ve never seen something solid and convincing when I looked straight at it.
I get this all the time… I’m a chronic mis-reader… I always see something that isn’t written.
I never used to be! And it seems like it’s never something harmless. It’s always something that makes me say, “Whaaaaaaa…?” Though maybe those are the only times I realize what’s going on!
I can remember laying down to sleep in a storm of light. The visual hallucinations died down a number of years ago.
I have loud auditory hallucinations which are imperceptibly tied to my heartbeat and my breath. They are up in the air on my right-a lot of voices chanting in a choir of nonsense. They depend on noise in the environment during the day and shut down in the evening.
In my imagination I have permanent characters that can weave in & out and interact with me. However, outside the domain of my mind, there aren’t any eye-sight problems.
Auditory hallucinations seldom occur, but when they do they seem to be heard through the left-brain auditory system and provide a soft “shock” like feeling.
Yes. Some of those things are the things I have a lot of trouble explaining
Have you seen an eye doctor? Not sure which of my things are similar to yours, but many of them are signs of a detached retina or something else with the eye. Rule that out.
With the exception of the ground undulating, none of these things get in the way of me seeing and maneuvering through my environment. If they are doing that for you, please don’t drive. Your other post has me really worried. If the ground is moving, I won’t try to drive my car. I will stay put until it passes, or get someone else to drive me. Please take care of your own safety and that of others.
When I’m unmedicated, my hallucinations are much more visual. My medication controls my visual hallucinations more than my auditory for some reason.
It never stops, since it started
