So here’s my background…a psychotic episode in june 2017, and another in march 2018. Both followed by a period of delusions whilst in hospital.
From 2014 to 2017 I probably had latent schizophrenia, as I was getting paranoid about my body image after a gym injury. Sometimes feeling peoples eyes on me, or strangers laughing at me.
Since May 2018 (when I was released from hospital), absolutely no symptoms, except for derealization twice a month, but it’s been almost 2 months since my last derealization episode.
On meds from March 2018 to Jan 2019, off meds for 7 months.
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone one this forum who has made a full recovery…I can’t be the only one surely? I wish I could have some statistics on making a full recovery. I saw a guy on the news, who had psychosis before, but was never ill again.
Also I currently don’t have schizophrenia as I am symptomless, and I only realized last month that I actually had schizophrenia (mild/latent) from 2014-2018.

I believe someone by the user name scorpiopark had been off meds for like 10 years without symptoms. He was on here a long time ago haven’t seen him. I believe John nash that famous schizophrenic that passed away had been off of medication for some time and was doing fairly well.
I am recovered in the sense that the Zyprexa is completely controlling my symptoms, and I am able to be high functioning and look for a full-time job.
Without the meds, I would go right back into psychosis. Good for you being off meds for 7 months!
I just looked up John Nash. I’m defo gonna watch the film based on his life.

I am completely positive symptom and cognitive symptom free. I have a few negative symptoms though. Or, rather, I fight them. I am also on a lot of psych meds.
That’s great that you are symptom and med free @StonePaperScissors.

Original DX was sz so if thats true I’ve had only one psychosis in 2010. I get moods sometimes but not psychosis.

how can u be sure u are not having symptoms of schizophrenia? e.g delusion/ inability to think etc
maybe u r psychotic but u dun know, because u dun know whether u got sth wrong when u r deluded , but if u feel fine and people around u /pdoc say ur progress is well then it is true u r doing pretty well
I don’t have any irrational beliefs, or paranoia, and my psychiatrist, and care coordinator also agree that I am doing well. I asked my care coordinator if he thought I had schizophrenia, and he said no.

Am I allowed to talk about other people? Cuz I know one person who has made what I’d call the closest thing to a full recovery that I know of. Mine is a partial recovery, delusions and paranoia are gone but I still hallucinate. I’m guessing that as long as I still hear and see things I’m not eligible for the title of “fully recovered.” I am developing good skills to manage the hallucinations now that I don’t buy into what they say anymore.
That’s cool. You’re doing well. Was your schizophrenia that u had drug induced or do u have anyone in the family with sz.
Just ignore this message if I’m asking too personal
Not drug induced, but in 2016 I smoked cannabis for the first time, and hallucinated. But I snapped out of it. Never touched weed again. My dad has schizophrenia like symptoms. He has delusional disorder.
ive been working towards the full recovery since like 2010-2011 when i had my first major psychosis, but i had other symptoms probably as early as 2002, in 2006 i got really messed up on marijuana and was dissociated for like a year and a half then i was able to drink it away? self medicated with alcohol basically, then i thought i was fine for a while but later more drugs, and then eventually mega psychosis in 2010.
i feel like ive recovered from the psychosis related part, but negative symptoms persist. its a tough one.
if you asked me in 2013 if i thought id be cured by now id of said yes. but now i just feel its something I gotta work at for life.
That must be horrible to suffer for so long…What negative symptoms do you have? I never had any negatives.
I’m on my recovery from my second episode last December. I used to binge drink sometimes and I once did mdma. I am planning in coming off meds some point if my absence of positive symptoms continues. I gt at least one uncle whose experienced psychosis

yeah unfortanately i went untreated for a long long time. long story.
my negative symptoms were flat effect, lack motivation , avolition.
the flat effect has actually gone away about 1 year ago now, but i still have lack motivation and avolition
If you’re a guy and taking meds, get your testosterone levels checked…when I was on meds , I had the testosterone of an old man. Low t can make you feel like crap.
