I’ve gained 40 pounds in six months since starting Invega Sustenna. I was wondering is the injectable Abilify any more weight neutral? What are the pros and cons to it?

My psychiatrist says it’s very strange to gain weight with Abilify. That might be true because I haven’t gained weight and I’m on Abilify. But I now people who have gained weight on Abilify.
I have been on invega sustenna for almost 3 years and gained 10pounds. That’s about 3 pounds a year. Not too bad. I don’t mind it. The only thing is damn lumps in my arm where they inject it but I’ve been told if I massage it they will go down.

I’ve taken both but at different times. Don’t remember much weight gain from ability but at the same time it didn’t do anything for me.
Invega I can credit with quieting my voices. Probably got to give amyloban credit too (in conjunction with invega)
I actually lost weight on Invega. Now I’m on Abilify and Invega.
Hanna, I have been on invega sustenna for years after about 7 months of taking a high dose of fish oil I have started to lose the big appetite. I am on a diet and losing weight. I now have my libido back and I am starting to feel emotions again.

I took Risperdial and ballooned up.
Abilify doesnt make me want to wolf down all food i see.
I do find some insomnia issues and grumpiness with abilify
Same as @anon12381882. İf you be patient you going to be happiest person on earth. My anhedonia lost and my libido back more than before has. But just need patient about 2 or 3 years.my weight also became neutral. Just 10 kilo more from my original weight.overall best drug on the market so far
I get those darn lumps too! They hurt like crazy every time they re-inject in the same place.
Omg I have the same problem. Yes last time she injected into a lump and it was soo painful. So they have re injected into one of your lumps?
Honestly, I used to get it shot in my ass cheeks and i felt like i had been kicked by a donkey for a few days after the shot everytime !!
Have you thought about telling them to switch to the hip? That’s where I get mine and it’s doesn’t bother me at all
Now I use to go in the arm but that would make my arm hurt for like days

I’ve been on Invega Sustenna/Trinza for some years. And I’m feeling kinda flat emotionally. Gonna try Abilify injection next time. Hoping it will help. Will let u know if there’s a differance between the meds.
I have lost like 15-16 kilogram since I switched from Olanzapine to Paliperidone.
I told them about the lumps and suggested the hip and the doctor said the arm is fine and that the nurse can just go around the lumps. I wish I had just stayed with the mental health clinic instead of getting it injected at the doctor’s office. I feel like here they don’t know what they are doing, but I am stuck. I tried to go back to getting it at the mental health place and they won’t let me.

I get dizzy just hearing about your injections. Its a phobia.
OMG that’s won’t that your doctor gives it to you in the arm let alone goes around the lumps. That’s just not right. As the person who’s getting the shot you have the right to tell them to put it in the hip area which won’t hurt as bad as the arm.
Maybe u should try telling your doctor again it is hurting in the arm or go back to the mental health facility and tell them
My nurse use to go in the arm then she got moved now my new nurse is so nice and let’s me get it in the hip plus they should be rotating arms for you like one month right arm next month left arm.

@Hanna_Foxx I was just curious. Did they ever inject into a lump that you got? I am wondering because that happened to me a couple times even though they try to go around it.
