Intermittent fasting-on verge of giving up

I’ve lost 7 lbs so far which is more weight than I’ve been able to lose myself in a looong time. But it has been disastrous for my sleep to the point where I am at my wits end and my symptoms are flaring up really bad. I’ve been doing it for like 2 months now with no sign of my sleep improving. I either cant fall asleep because I am too hungry or even if I am not hungry it gives me a surge of restless energy when I fast that prevents me from sleeping. Or, I fall asleep and wake up like clockwork in 3 hours time and cannot fall back asleep until my fast ends and I am able to eat. This is extremely inconvenient and taxing on me to where I’ve started giving up and just eating during my fast.

I’m terrified of gaining the weight back I lost or continuing down my weight gain path. I want to make this work but cannot figure out how. Does anyone have any advice??

Perhaps set your fasting times so you’re allowed a meal a few hours before you go to bed?
Like 10AM-5PM or something?

Currently my fasting hours are 9 PM-11 am. I originally started out with the hours 11 PM-1 pm but I missed being able to eat breakfast. I think I had somewhat less trouble sleeping with the 11 PM-1 pm schedule it was just a bummer to not be able to have breakfast from places I really liked that stopped serving breakfast before then. I do think the answer lies in changing my fasting window. Hmm.

Just wanted to let you know I pondered over my normal hunger times and decided to change my fast to be 3:30 pm-1 am as I do not really get hungry between those hours anyways! Thanks! I will try it out I hope it helps my sleep!

I think if you eat under 50 cals every hour you are still technically fasting. So, half an apple is fine.

I like juice fasting. Every couple hours you can drink a glass, and before bed. I lost 6 pounds in 6 days. T

Update I read that eventually your body adjusts and you stop getting this so I’m going to give it some more time at my current fasting period bc I really want to stop my practice of eating throughout the night.

It can be difficult in the beginning. I did intermittent fasting and lost around 20lbs. It really works if you can push through the beginning stages. Good luck to you :slightly_smiling_face:

How long until things really started getting good for you/easier? I’ve been doing it like 2 months now. I’ve lost 7 lbs so far. It has been hard.

Things moved really slowly for me in the beginning. Actually after my first 8 weeks, all I’d noticed was that I’d stopped gaining weight. I was feeling a little discouraged as I wasn’t actually losing.

I’d say around the end of the third month I began losing weight, It was slow, but I was losing consistently. As far as it being easier, I can’t pinpoint the exact time, but eventually my cravings stopped during the fasting window. And it was easier to stick to it. I know you want like a definite time, like when will it not be hard anymore, but trust that your body will adjust.

Perhaps do more research and watch YouTube videos about intermittent fasting to learn a little more about the process.

I have sleep issue badly too,I don’t know if increasing my meds would help anyway
