I’m being really paranoid and thinking the worst things.
In less than two days!!!
I’ve also has a fear of flying… I’m sorry you’ve got less then two days… you might want to see if there is a short term anxiety med that might help you.
I had time before my first flight ever and talked to my therapist a lot about NO catastrophic thinking.
It was more pricy… but I saved up and went first class as well… the extra room and not feeling so packed in did help my people anxiety.
I also brought a sleeping pill with me in case I just needed to be knocked out for the flight. I found… I didn’t need to take it. I was lucky and didn’t need to take it. I traveled with my Dad and he kept me distracted with some cross word puzzles and conversation.
My Ipod got loaded with nature sounds and guided relaxation sessions.
Good luck and I hope you manage to relax and enjoy the flight.
its good to take precautions,
i think i had some diazepam for my fist flight and i had my music and a couple of magazines,
cant remember if i read the magazine tho, i think i just took some diazepam and listened to some calm music, it was 4 hrs i think and the drinks and food were a good distraction, i had tea from the trolley but you can get coffee and other drinks to as well as food i think.
its a good idea to go to the toilet before you board but there is an onboard toilet but you may have to wait in a queue,
i would say i prefer a window seat but an aisle seat is ok too,
biggest thing for me is my ears popping (most people dont get this) but i get it quite bad so i take ear plugs and some boiled sweets or mints and landings are usually worse on my ears than take off but nothing to worry about, thats just me.
dont forget your tickets and passports etc and keep them safe (dont want to lose them),
check in on time and look at the boards to see where you need to go and times etc,
also its ok to take meds in your hand luggage and if you get frisked at security dont worry as it is all just precausonary and they are just doing their jobs.
think thats it, i hope your flight goes well, please dont worry though as it is really very easy esp if you are going a short distance, if its long distance i suggets first class as i find this easier,
longest i’ve travelled was from Britain to Florida which was about 8 hrs i think but i’ve also gone longer on a bus, i tavelled the length of the uk and was about 18 hrs on a bus, flying was much easier for me though and quicker,
You’re safer in an airplane than you are in a car.
In the United States, between 1983 and 2000, there were 568 plane crashes. In 90% of them there were survivors, and out of the 53,487 people onboard, 51,207 survived. (Of course, the 9/11 tragedies changed all of our considerations about crashes. nonetheless, “deliberate” crashes are, of course, an infinitesimal possibility.)
Apart from the turbulence, I am mostly ok with flying. The strange thing is, I feel more uneasy in a speeding car and at the top of a skyscraper despite the fact I am travelling faster and at around 37,000 feet on a plane.
Statistically speaking, you are more likely to die in the automobile accident on the way to the airport than you are flying to your on the airplane
My ex loved to fly, both commercial and private, was a pilot, and has a Cessna 172 flown regularly.
I have been in a plane more times than I can count, both for training and for fun, that it just became routine.
Most people have no idea just how preparation is done before a flight to ensure safety, you don’t just hop into a plane and take off like in a car.
It helps to bring along something that brings you comfort and good luck (if your superstitious) for distraction, and remember to breathe…and relax.
I’m not terrified of flying per se. It’s the thought of the myriad ways flights end badly I don’t like. Also, crowded airports and people searching me. Do everything I can to avoid it. Understand why you’re stressed. Sending good vibes your way.

I used to love flying and wasn’t afraid of it but later in life had a recurring dream of a crash so I avoided flying for 21 years. I flew 3 times way up north, the last time just 2 weeks before 9/11…then one more time in 2005. I would prefer to avoid it though I do actually enjoy the feeling of flying.
i fly at least once every three years…13 hour flight, i dont think theres anything to fear.
usually i sleep the entire flight.
