Intelligence without much practical intelligence?

What good is it? People have said I’m intelligent but in order to function day to day , at a rather basic level , I need quite a lot of support.

I know there are quite few other highly intelligent people here ,but I wonder how many others amongst them struggle with the practical day to day aspects of living.

What do you get help with? Maybe I receive the same

I would compare the value of intelligence to business.

High intelligence is like having a high turnover. Anybody can sell loads if they make a loss. It’s profit that’s more important.

Intelligence doesn’t guarantee profit

I am to mentally disabled to do fck. I can’t motivate myself anymore. I still can give suggestions what to do, but can’t do it myself e.g. vaccumcleaning, mopping the floor.
Intelligence is observed in human, nonhuman animals and plants. Matter, dead matter.

Maybe you have psychomotor retardation, which makes everyday things very difficult

I get help with keeping the flat clean by a PA . My stepdaughter or a granddaughter takes me to do the big weekly grocery shop. If there’s any dealings with someone official my stepdaughter makes the call , and is with me if the official comes in person. My stepdaughter comes to medical appointments with me. My stepdaughter prompts me to change my clothes if my clothes get marked/stained. If I have to go anywhere my stepdaughter or granddaughters take me.

At my old address without the support I was very disorganised and struggled to keep my flat clean and tidy. The mental health team who only visited my flat once in the 8 years I’d be on depot were not aware of my living conditions . My stepdaughter had a cleaning blitz when she visited but I couldn’t maintain things.

I still think i would be capable of flying a helicopter, when i have to. I would get a lot when i am hungry enough.

Have you flown one before?

I’ve flown in one before but they wouldn’t let me drive :stuck_out_tongue:

It can be practically learned. When you can learn to use a computer you can learn almost anything.

Not t necessarily, it takes a lot of coordination

HAND-EYE COORDINATION
Score Received: 8
Tim has received a low score in hand-eye coordination. This skill is the coordination of
the hands and eyes. Hand-eye coordination is a complex skill, as it requires the hand to
move depending on the visual stimuli that the eyes receive. T his is an essential skill for
driving, as it makes it possible to move the vehicle towards the necessary location
safely and while avoiding obstacles.

VISUAL SHORT TERM MEMORY
Score Received: 45
Tim has received low scores in this cognitive skill. Visual short-term memory is the
ability to remember visual information over a short period of time.

FOCUSED ATTENTION
Score Received: 187
Tim received low scores in this cognitive skill. Focus attention makes it possible for the
driver to stay alert during long trips that may be tiresome and monotonous. Focus
attention makes it possible to pay attention to relevant stimuli while inhibiting those that
may be irrelevant.

WIDTH OF FIELD OF VIEW
Score Received: 31
Tim received low scores in ??eld-of-view. Safe driving requires us to have a good visual
and visual-perceptive skills in order to perceive the environment, as well as visual acuity,
a complete width-of-field of view, and the necessary optical corrections.

ESTIMATION
Score Received: 96
Tim has received low scores in estimation. Estimating speed, direction, or distance is
one of the skills that we use constantly as we drive, and is essential to driving safely.
For example, if you want to pass a car on the road, you need to estimate your speed and
the speed of the other car, and estimate the time and distance to be able to pass the
other vehicle safely.

Bad scores from the Cognifit driving assessment I did.

Sorry to hear. How are you dealing with boredom?
When the limitation is that bad. I realize myself overcoming boredom gets easier.

I get bored sometimes . It’s usually when there’s not much going on on the forums I use that’s of interest to me.
