I’m on invega and have terrible insomnia and nightmares but at least my symptoms are improving.
Fox if you can’t sleep on the dons then it wouldn’t hurt to try the pines as they are said to be the most sedating antipsychotics. You can get the cheap version of the pills for 10 - 15 US dollars.
The pines are as follows.
Asenapine - Saphris.
Clozapine - Clozaril (requires monthly blood tests)
Olanzapine- Zyprexa
Qutiapine Seroquel.
Their effects on Sleep are in the following rank with the first as most pronounced.
Clozapine - Asenapine - Olanzapine - Qutiapine.
My prescriber won’t give me olanzapine due to the weight gain side effects. She gave me the choice of latuda or Geodon so I settled on Geodon
Thank you this is quite helpful. I haven’t seen too much on Saphris but I’m interested in trying it at some point. I didn’t know it was sedating
I was in invega and couldn’t sleep without cogentin an anticholinergic. It helps with the restlessness from akathisia. Maybe ask your doctor about that. I couldn’t go without cogentin when I was on that med.
I have Congentin. It didn’t make me tired at all
Geodon didn’t help with my sleep at all, but I liked it better than risperidone. I lost 40 lbs in the first few year after switching.
Were you able to sleep on Geodon? I’ve read it can cause insomnia in some people. How was your sleep when you were taking it?
My sleep has always been bad, but that is because I don’t have a pineal gland. Geodon didn’t help that, but it helped my psychosis symptoms.
