Insomnia and things that help

I suffer from severe insomnia from April 2017,was sleeping 4-5 hour a day on average since then. Two days ago my melatonin arrived and I tried someone else technique where he shares how he take melatonin online.I took liquid form melatonin,3mg of it and under my tongue.I was able to feel tired and sleep well afterwards,it is working for the past two days and hopefully more in the future.I woke up feeling a bit dizzy, but at least I was able to sleep at night.
If you suffer from insomnia, what did you do to solve this?

The person technique is from his sleep doctor who studied melatonin. He said,he was advised to take 3mg an hour before you want to sleep,if you still couldn’t sleep, take 3mg more every half an hour,it is advise to take 10-30mg each night for 3 month. He said 80-90% of insomnia will be resolved and you will be able to reset your body clock and sleep well after 2 week.

I took 3mgX3 the first day and fell asleep, yesterday I took 3mgX2 and fell asleep. Before melatonin arrived,I tried to go to bed at 1am,but fell asleep only at 4-5am and knew this couldn’t go on.I am glad that melatonin is at least working the past two day, hopefully it last for a very long time

I take Melatonin 6 mg three hours before bed and it works great on me. I also take 200 mg of Seroquel three hours before bed for psychosis and that really helps me to sleep too.

I take 100mg seroquel in the evenings and again an hour before bedtime. Seems to do the job most nights.
I also have a Spotify playlist I put on to help my mind relax

An antidepressant helped my insomnia. It seemed some depression was the underlying cause of poor sleep all those years. I sleep quite healthy now.

Well, it depends on why you have insomnia in the first place. And do you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? Are you stressed? Are you eating very close to bed time that digestion affects your sleep? Are you consuming any form of caffeine within 5 hours before bedtime? Do you exercise? Do you look at a screen - TV/computer/mobile for long just before bed? If you’re indulging in 2, 3, and 5. Start avoiding them. If you’re stressed, then try organising your work. That may help or else spend some time doing activities that you may find relaxing - meditation, reading, baking, knitting, and/or exercising. Exercise will help you relax as well as tire you out to help you sleep better. Another thing that helps is try to use your bedroom or bed area only for sleeping. Do not study/work/use laptop and try to go to bed at the same time everyday. If you tumble and toss for more than half an hour, get out and do something else. I’ve been doing this and fall asleep around midnight no matter where I am. And entering my bedroom makes me naturally drowsy. Fingers crossed for you!

I suffer from severe insomnia as well and have tried a handful of medications for sleep and either they don’t work or they work temporarily. Right now I’m taking Clonazepam and it has been helping a lot, hopefully it keeps working. I excercise and that hasn’t been helping either. I was using my phone before going to sleep which I have stopped and usually read a book and it seems to be working as well. It’s really weird but I start having vivid dreams after the medication starts to wear off but it’s just a trial and error process according to my psychiatrist.
