Influence of liberal arts schools in america

I find the basic class requirements for degree seeking students to be very frustrating. almost backwards, going back to school at an older age it is not necessary for me to expand my horizons with “a sense of general knowledge of broader topics” no I’m looking to get a more in-depth understanding of my major. the 45 credits of general education requirements in the arts humanities social sciences English and natural sciences is biggest scam in education. It seems the university system, almost all of them, would rather I be an aspiring supreme court justice taking philosophy and English courses than a lowly greenskeeper much preferring his studies of soil science and irrigation. Other than trade school, there is no getting around this standard of education these days.

it just shows how pervasive and persuasive all the small private liberal arts schools in America have become that there sentiments and value system has so effectively influenced my education and my wasted budget

You could always go to a STEM school. I had to take an American Cultures course at my college and it was basicallly about white privilege.

Is this considered old for college in the US? I get the impression that people in the US often feel they are too old for college at a very young age.

I think the ideal at big schools is to graduate before 22 years old. I started at 17 at community college. So if one graduates at 18 from HS then spends 4 years for a BA, they should be 22 years old if all goes well.

That’s pretty silly. Half the people in my class are about 30 years or older.

If you’re over 22 in college, you’re considered non traditional. You don’t qualify for on-campus housing or many forms of financial aid.

Also depends on the time of day you attend class. Most evening classes have older, working and people with family, students
