What do they teach you in a liberal arts college? 🤔

Since it´s a new concept to me (they don´t exists in my country afaik)

I´ve read a little bit about them, but I don´t really understand what type of instruction do they give you there…

Has anyone cursed a degree in liberal arts?

I have an Associates of Arts degree from a college. You take a grab bag of courses such as speech, writing I &II, art appreciation, music appreciation, world literature, college algebra, biology, chemistry, keyboarding intro to computer science history of civilization I & II, American Government, sociology and psychology. I think that’s everything.

For my Associates degree (one class to go) I took several humanities courses, film classes, geography, English writing courses, physical science, psychology, mythology, children’s literature, history, and a few others and now my last class is math.

I was working for an AA degree and just about half finished. Among the classes I took three psychology classes and intro to philosophy and I think almost all go towards the elective courses for me. I have a community college I could walk to in 20 minutes or catch a bus that would take me five. I really should take a class, maybe the American history class that I was told is required. I was never able to do any recreational reading and also study my school books, I just don’t have the mental energy and I hear the American history course is heavy reading. I’ll talk to my therapist about it Monday. I need to get some medical things done first.

@Jayster allright so that´s what´s all about… We call it sociology campus lol

@ElGato it´s weird, we call “arts” like “letters”. I think it´s more graphic, because you need to read a lot of letters! Arts doesn´t make too much sense in the context imo.

@77nick77 did you enjoy em?

@Jinx I feel the same about recreational reading… Good luck with your health.

About to complete my liberal arts AA degree… it’s a mix of arts, sciences and some technology. I did 3 history classes, 2 english writing and comprehension classes, a film adaptation class, sociology, 2 psychology classes, ethics, 2 math classes, human communication… a bunch of prerequisites for a health care program I am going to start in January… including anatomy and physiology 1 & 2, Microbiology and now general chemistry and physiology. CPR, Basic Nutrition… didn’t do any tech courses, I should have though.

It depends on what major you take and what the teacher’s opinion is.
