It’s not a perfect system, but it is better than the other systems. Life was harder at its best in the Soviet Union than it is at its worst elsewhere.
Anyhow, can we keep the politics out?

Capitalism does not allow for other systems to be tried. They stamp out any other systems that have ever begun to flourish. You think that other systems is just the old USSR because that is all you’ve ever been allowed to think of.
If you think complaining about inflation isn’t political, you are delluded.
I am concerned about inflation because I know that families are going hungry. I’m hoping that those who are in a position to give are doing so. We need to help each other out right now.
It’s bad here. We are spending a fortune on petrol and groceries. Not to mention gas and electric has gone up twice as much for us.
I have a feeling that Vlad is soon to be traded in on a Chevy Volt EV SUV. It has enough range to suit my needs.
I’m totally clueless about cars.
All wheel drive, fully electric vehicle. I’ll still pay out of the nose for power, but it will somewhat disconnect me from fossil fuels. I’m also looking at a good sized solar power station for the back yard to charge it from.
Sounds good .It helps to have a good head on your shoulders in these situations.
Those articles on how to save don’t help when prices just keep rising. It’s a nice thought, but income is not keeping pace with inflation at all. There’s just no way to be healthy on a limited, set income now.
Also, how does one make their RENTED home more energy efficient? Beyond sealing windows with plastic over the winter to reduce drafts? You can turn the heat down, but that only goes so far as a strategy.
We keep our heat at 60 and with the crappy furnace the thermostat reads 50. Landlord hasn’t had the thing maintained at all. No yearly checks, nothing. So we have to supplement with kerosene or electric. Both are expensive now.
