I’ve been visiting websites of companies that make the products I use and complimenting their products. They are sending me valuable coupons in the mail. I also am calling and complaining about every little thing and getting free stuff and one company even sent me a check for $25.
I know many people don’t have the patience for this type of thing, but it’s a way to stretch a buck. I have $41 dollars worth of free or nearly free items to get tomorrow when I go shopping. All products that I normally buy and love because I elicited the coupons instead of getting them out of the paper.
Have food, gas, electricity and fuel prices gone up in America too? Because we’re going through a cost of living crisis here in the U.K everything has gone up in price.
Dunno. Was watching PBS News Hour (public broadcasting), and they said inflation was sloooooowly getting better in the States.
Still though, won’t see prices drop much I don’t think— take a look at past inflation occurrences: prices tend to stagnate and wages tend to compensate (ie raise to accommodate) the new pricing scheme.
Never have I ever seen prices drop to pre-inflationary levels.
Deflation is just as bad, depending on who you ask though.
On a more serious note millions of people living in England can’t afford to heat their homes or buy food. For some is been a choice between heating or eating.
person A: i need someone to clean my house and will trade you one chicken and i will also compliment you and provide validation that you’re doing the best you can.
person B: deal! *washes dishes while person A tells them they’re a good person and nobody can take that away from them.
Yeah, here in the Uk, my weekly food shop has gone up by about £50 quid.
Brother in Law works in a Food warehouse Bookers - supplying cafes and such in bulk - so i can get stuff at cost outta him when hes kind enough to deliver it.
yesterday at the grocery store I was able to save $62 off my bill from store discounts and coupons. I spent less than $100. Next weekend when I go all I will need to get is fresh veggies and bread, and I’ll probably need tofutti sour cream substitute. I will probably also get a treat. I will spend $50 or so.
Thanks for the advice. Money isn’t that tight for me. Though I feel for the people for whom it is. But I started volunteering a day at a farm, and in return get free vegetables for the week. I volunteer at the coffee bar and get free coffee and soup in return. So I started the bartering already. It is nice, because my disability money doesnt decrease for it (as it would with a job).
They also put a bookcase in my neighbourhood, where people can put things they do not need, and you can find a lot of free stuff…I got a pair of nice sneakers. Books. A chair. I also leave things I do not need anymore.
I need to check if coupon things also work here.
They did a lot here to compensate people for the electricity/gas problem. People indeed cannot turn on the heating. They have “warm rooms” in a few places in town. Public places where people can sit in the day or evening, so that they neednt turn on heating or lights at home. People were also financially compensated.
