I bought grilled chicken yesterday. It was 6.95 €. The price has not risen in half a year. Here is my post in Oct 2022.
I bought a box of chicken breasts this week. Up $1 over two weeks ago.
How much was the price two weeks ago? How many chicken breasts are in one box?
$37 this week, $36 before. 4kg box. I purchase from a restaurant wholesaler. They are about $45-50/box normal retail.
Prices here have shot through the roof during this past year. Economists try to come up with good explanations for why our country has the highest inflation rate in the EU zone, but they fall short. It would be funny if it wasn’t tragic.
I would imagine stores don’t always adjust their prices instantaneously. Like they probably try to keep some basic items locked in at a price so as not to raise attention to rising prices…
I think they also anticipate inflation and such and raise prices ahead of time for a little financial padding.
Just some ideas why the price may not had changed…not sure I never studied economics or business or anything
Funny thing… Farmers are still getting paid mostly the same for grains and meat they produce despite their rising input costs. If the supermarkets aren’t paying the producers more then what’s the deal?
My shopping this week was about 25% more expensive than I expected it to be. The supermarkets tend to do a cheap but very uninspiring range of budget own brand meals. The trouble is it’s a case of cheap cost ,not very nice taste.
Corporate greed is the deal.
the corporations decided to let us pick up the cost of the extra money in covid times to produce food…it’s all greed. agreed.
Do these people ever behave responsibly during a cost of living crisis ?!!
No. Why would they? They don’t have to worry about bills and food.
