I bought my first one in the 1996 when I was 16. It was Fujitsu Siemens with Windows 95.
I was having a summer-job over my stepfather’s workplace and got money for it in there.
I got a Commodore 64 in late 80’s when I was a kid. The first computer I bought was a 1Ghz Athlon in the late 90’s. I do sincerely miss those days
Around 2007 apparently from my grandma’s apartment n-block sale.
First computer was Commodore Amiga 500 in 1990. I’ve always had cast off laptops from work so never bought a PC. In fact the first one I bought was a Mac last year.
I didn’t have my own computer (laptop) until around 2007. Before that, I did have a family one. I first got one with internet access because I married a tech guy, so 2002.
Edited to add: I didn’t even have a CD player until I was 17, in 2001. It was a portable Sony. I gave it to my mom, and it actually just broke a couple of years ago. Great purchase. I may have been born in the 80s, but I grew up with a record player and no cable or anything like that.
I built my first PC out of scrap parts in 2003 when I was 16 years old.
It had a bootleg Windows 98 OS and I used it to download music and games
Never actually bought a ready built PC until about 2008
Growing up I played consoles
Not sure exactly. Late 1980’s I think. Vic 20 I believe. Later a commodore 64.
I had my first PC in 2001 which ran windows 98. I was 16. Didnt get the internet since 2003 and have had a desktop computer and internet ever since 2003. I now have Macs.
Well, technically I didnt buy it. My parents did for the whole family. First computer I bought for myself was probably in 91 or 92.
It was when i went off to college for all of five weeks. laptop. IBM or something in 2002.
I can’t remember I think around '95. I remember I had AOL. (You’ve got mail!)
I think I got my first computer in the early 2000s I’m guessing, it was a desktop PC running windows 98. A few years earlier we got a family computer though, it was a Windows 95/NT desktop PC.
The first time I bought my own computer must have been around 2005, it was a gaming PC. I sold it to my brother though and instead bought a MacBook.
First time I purchased iMac was 2011. I was in hospital for awhile and saved my disability benefits. I went with the occupational therapist to buy it from the Nottingham Apple store. I had it set up in my hospital room, playing alot of age of empires.
I didn’t get my first computer until 2001, and it was an old hand-me-down, don’t remember the brand, but I do remember the crappy 4x cd-rom drive. The first computer I bought was a cheap ass eMachine in 2004, I think.
@Happy_H i didn’t get my first cd player until 1998. It was my gift to myself for high school graduation. The stereo we had when I was a kid had just a turntable and am/fm radio. I never owned any records back then (though I do now), listened to cassettes until ‘98.
I asked for a computer for the holidays in 1990.
Got one!
It was pretty awesome, but I just used it for games being five years old and such.
I remember our first really nice computer, that like accessed the internet and stuff in maybe 1997.
We were kind of late to the party on that.
TI-99/4A in 1981. I was 12 and a gift from my grandmother. It was a continual battle to keep my mother from pawning it.
Father bought one in 2000, that was the first one i had access to for home use
First time I used the internet was 1997 at school in science class, that was the only classroom in the school had the internet. I remember googling Corgi toy cars and the internet being very slow.
When I got the internet at home was when I was 18 I looked at alot of porn, thats the only reason I got the internet lol
I think I purchased my first computer, Sinclair Spectrum Z81, in 1984 or so. Learning the BASIC-programming language was very helpful with even Microsoft’s Visual Basic in 2000.
Well, I’ve gotten a laptop for free before from an uncle (maybe 2012), and I’ve bought a relatively nice laptop from a friend before for like $50 (in 2016 I think). But I bought my very first desktop gaming pc this year.
