I first used email in 1992 while in college. Then, it was just a plain blue screen with white text on it… There were no other options. Not on that system anyway.

I was enrolled in a graphic arts program, and thought email was a waste of time. One year later, I was starving to death running a business, trying to convince businesses that they needed a website. It was the stone age’s LOL

No I don’t. I had a computer in 1997/1998. I just played video games and used word processor. It was a dell. Biggest thing in my life back then. Playing on a computer. Our schools had them too. I was gifted in computers but never learned how to program. I guess if I had no severe cognitive disability (schizophrenia) I would be a programmer or genius programmer. I decided not to learn programming because I lacked the social skills already and didn’t want to sit in a dark room all day programming. I was already bullied and lonely my whole life. I worked on my social skills and mathematics instead. It was still a lucrative major and stem field, but that’s it. I was behind in academics and knowledge and learning my whole life. My parents were just not academically motivated or well learned. The biggest gift my mom gave me was her empathy and the biggest thing my dad gave me was ocd lol. My step-dad would turn the internet off (monitor it, I guess) and so I got always paranoid when watching porn lol. I think that caused me to get paranoid and was a small part of my paranoid schizophrenia and that he would lie about it and shut it off all the time, especially, and solely, because of me. I played video games really well.

Him being an engineer motivated me to learn and be smarter I guess. I always liked his semi successful career and intelligence. I didn’t really like him as a person until I got sick, which ended up being a good thing because we get along now and I live with my mom, brother, and step-dad. I think I’m the ■■■■ up in the family or one of the ■■■■ ups. I often felt like the red-headed step-child. I was ignored a lot.

Between 1987 and 1990 on the old Sears Prodigy network.

3rd grade like late 90’s, the library at my school had one computer on dial up and they were showing us how to use google. Remembe old mice that had those stupid balls inside?

Omg. My friend gave me an old modem from his work. I tried to get on with this 2400 baud rate modem and it took like 5 minutes to load a page. Went up the road and bought a 28k or whatever was good for the time and was away. Such a weird world the internet back then!

Must have been around '98.
My dad taught me how to setup a webpage and let me have some fun with it. He made me take it down when a disgruntled client made death threats, put him on a public hitlist, and hinted he knew the names of my dad’s kids. I wasn’t upset, I knew he was trying to protect me.
Then I started going on a game website for kids that also had a chat function. Popit, I think.
Internet was really slow and we couldn’t use the phone while anyone was online, so I got 30 minutes of online time a day. 20 of those were usuallt spent buffering music videos from mtv.com

I remember the internet in the 90’s when you connected through the phone line on like a 56 kbs dial up modem.

Pretty staggering how fast things have developed since then!

I have 100mbps with my cable company broadband

Optical fiber is deployed in my town but i have not yet subscribed !

@Pikasaur :
I remember that in the USA, people did not pay the price of communicating with old modems.
Here we paid like a phone call! I had had a huge bill but it was a mistake as I thought I had an unlimited plan.
