I'm thinking of starting the keto diet

Anyone tried it? Apparently for some people it can help positive symptoms.

I tried it. It seemed to help for both depression and psychotic symptoms, though it was too short to say whether it was coincidence.

Now I quit. I found it difficult to stick to: one time cheating and you are out of ketosis. Also, it was too expensive for me for now, because you need to buy a lot of animal products, and I want them to be all organic.

I do notice I’m more emotionally fragile without. I got a bit depressed after quitting keto, though there’s clear reasons for that. If I notice the sadness doesn’t lift, I might go back on keto. I also suspect, but not sure, I’m less vulnerable to delusions on keto. My mind felt very clear.

Well, I’m not sure. I fluctuate in symptoms, so it’s hard to say what is the diet and what is my normal fluctuation.

I suspect I was less vulnerable to delusions (my only psychotic symptom) when on keto. But this may have been placebo or coincidence.

How long did you try it for? From googling it can take 4-12 weeks to enter a fat adapted state.

Only a very short time.

I think I entered ketosis quickly, after a few days. I noticed by constant thirst, bad taste in my mouth, slight euphoria, total absence of any delusional thinking. When I cheated, I noticed I was emotionally more fragile and creepy thoughts restarted. Another thing I noticed, but this again may be coincidence, was that I have normally horror-pms (very depressed, sometimes delusional) and now it was a breeze. No clue if you are male or female.

I tried a few times, and eventually only stuck to it maybe 6 weeks or so? I’m bad with time. :slight_smile:

As said: i was on it too short to say anything useful, other than the direct response, which was hopeful.

A non-MI friend uses it for a very long time now for losing weight and noticed his mind was very sharp, stable and peaceful.

You should try it.

My brother has been doing it for months and months. Im a bit concerned as hes already thin and now even thinner.

If you do do it then you need to work out those muscles, as when I did it I lost a lot of muscle mass with the glycogen and fat at the same time.
