Determined to go for at least 3-4 months to see how I feel.
Good luck with it!
Thanks! I need to be patient and try not to obsess over how many days I’m in, but I’ll probably do it anyway, lol.
Yeah I know exactly what you mean
How’s it going so far?
It’s going good, a bit tired. My brain isn’t working optimally. I need to keep it going for months to get fat adapted. I was motivated when I saw an interview someone posted with dr. chris palmer saying that some people get an antipsychotic effect 2-4 months into the diet.
Oh wow I didn’t know that
I hope it all goes well for you
I know a lot of people who are on it and they’ve had great results
Wishing you well. I’m on day two so we are starting around the same time. It will be interesting to compare notes!
Nice to see you @TheStrange
Hago!
Hey @SacredNeigh7!!
Thanks it’s nice to see you too, hope you’re well.
Thank you
Ha ha ha I was going crazy again but thankfully I’m pretty well now.
I think finally getting some sleep helped.
Hope you are well too.
Good luck to you as well!
I woke up today and my stomach was screaming for food although I ate enough yesterday. I have noticed that meals make me feel full, but the fullness doesn’t last that long. Probably something that will change with fat adaptation.
Yeah. I had dramatically cut out fat and sugar before trying this so my body was probably going into ketosis with all the exercise I’m doing. It does get easier and as your body adjusts. I’m sorting out my meal plan and it’s taking some work as I need to add more fat…It’s a diet and I’ve found it’s something that takes some adjusting no matter what you’ve been eating regularly. Hang in there.
What are you eating for electrolytes? I need to be better at that. I salt my food and eat things like salty bacon, but that’s about it. I have neglected potassium and need to get more of that I think.
I drink tonnes of water which seems to be doing the trick. Potassium is off my radar with the high blood pressure pills I’m on so I’m skirting around that. I’m still pretty loose with it but dialing it in. Any diet for me is changing my habits and getting used to it so it’s just about fine tuning what I’m eating etc. I still eat enough potassium with bacon and stuff like nuts.
It’s hard letting go of carbs though. I notice that for me as I lived on rice and liked pasta for a change up…Long ways to go but getting there slowly.
I was wondering something about the book you read. Does chris palmer mention anywhere in the book what percentage of the patients he have treated with keto notice reduction in positive symptoms?
No. He doesn’t go into it and just says he had this patient and this is what happened.
Still. My shrink got me onto it because I was pretty well doing the low carb thing anyways. My carbs were just like brown rice and it was low. I honestly don’t think it’s the total answer but I think there’s something there with this approach…
And saying that. I have done all the exercise on traditional diet and changed it up to a similar thing and losing weight…I’m almost under 100kgs and that is like 8.5kgs down which I couldn’t shift otherwise.
Mentally. Feel way better too so it’s hard because I’m bottomed out on meds anyways…For me though it’s so worthwhile persuing this diet. If I keep losing I’m gaining…
I’m so god damn tired and lethargic. Maybe it’s a sign my carb reserves are burnt off and I’m now in ketosis.
I hope the diet helps you @magz . Please keep us posted over time on how it affects your mental health. @rogueone , can you keep us posted in that regard too? @magz , you can get strips that you dip in your urine that tell you if you’re in ketosis
Thank you! Yeah I know about the strips, tbh I don’t think I’m gonna bother, just eat mostly fat and trust that the body adapts and stays in ketosis. I’m even making sure to keep the protein at just adequate levels (no more than 25g x 3 meals), as I read just one case where a guy couldn’t get into ketosis without cutting protein. Will keep you updated and also hope @rogueone will keep us updated on his progress!
