I’ll probably be getting a car soon. I haven’t driven much the past couple of years. Prior to that though I had driven for more than a decade. The couple times I drove it was a little scary. I need the car to get to college because it’s pretty far away. Guess it’s something you just have to jump into. I’ll probably get a GPS and just follow that.
I’m sure you’ll do just fine @TheBest.
One step at a time.
Thanks @Vertigo. It means a lot.
best wishes the best…im in the same boat, have to get a car to commute to city college…I hate driving its so expensive…perpetual taxation I call it
Thanks @yaz1. Good luck with school.
Like any skill you’ve been away from for awhile, take into consideration you’re a bit rusty and confidence will all come back to you.
Thanks @PinCushion. Hopefully it comes back to me.
I’m in the exact same position it’s pretty essential I get a car now, but I haven’t driven in 5 years and I just don’t know if I’ll be okay I’m worried about focussing on everything necessary but I really want my freedom and I need to be able to drive locally for September so going to take small drives and build up, I’m only getting a two seater so easy to park, getting satnav is a good idea that’s what I’m gonna do too. I wish you luck on your journeys too, I’m hoping omce driving again it all comes back.
Just be alert and careful and mind your own business. Anticipate what others drivers are going to do and don’t get sucked in to losing your cool and getting mad when other drivers drive badly or aggressively. A GPS is a good idea.
The positives of driving sure outweigh the inevitable negatives of driving for me. I figure that since I handled an hour commute to work and back a few times a week in bumper to bumper traffic on California freeways for years, that now I can handle driving anywhere in the country. (maybe an exaggeration but these freeways are tough).
I will try to not lose my cool, thanks @77nick77. I’ve driven on highways in San Diego so I know what you mean.
My sz friend has a car. He is a great driver.
I dont trust myself driving. Before i got ill i was a crazy dizzy driver. When im in a car with another driver i picture myself driving. And always the driver makes right decisions and i would have done everything wrong.
It’s just like riding a bicycle: you never forget. It’s just like sex; it just comes naturally.
OK, I’m lying. I’m just trying to be supportive, both those things are totally different from driving a car.
