I'm listening to the news for the first time in years

I am full of hope and so it seems is the rest of the world.

I’ve pretty much shut down social media, TV, Radio (with the exception of this forum)…since last February.

It’s kept me sane for the last 9 months but It’s been tough as I’m used to being a current events junkie.

Would you consider opening up again now that the election is over?

I tend not to follow the news. Very depressing. But I realise one can’t bury their head in the sand.

I’m just getting it though my head, now, that it was causing world wide depression. The US is a leader in the world, and when we don’t do well, the whole world is affected. I even think the better spirit we have now will do a lot to kick Covid in the butt.

I don’t own a TV nor I read the news, because of how it’s systematically designed one or another way to spread the confusion among the groups thus getting angry at each other in the process. I know there are more to it (good and bad) but my general consensus is to shut down all the bad signaling.

I might “alienate” myself here by saying this, but I’m really glad that my fellow American friends elected Joe Biden.

Everything is going to be Okay we can calm down.

At some point you realize they’re all just pawns of their corporate overlords. Their promises mean nothing. Plus the button.

Thank God for people who have a mental energy solving these issues for me so that I don’t need to feed myself into that negativity.

Propaganda, clickbait, gasslighting doesn’t affect me because I consume zero news.

I used to be a real news hound, but now not so much.

I’m constantly under media. The Tv runs day and night. I’m watching online Tv on my computer that is connected to a regual Tv. I watch YouTube and Twitch everyday.

I tried countless times to be without this media consumption, so I put everything away and started to listen to the radio for short times and getting back into reading books, but it didn’t last long. I can’t handle it in my room without the Tv or the internet.

The voices get really loud if I turn everything off. Sometimes it’s nice for an hour or so to have everything turned off, but for the other 23 hours I like my media.

I watch the news once in a while so I get updated on what’s going on out there in broad stroaks. Have to take everything with a grain of salt though.

I try to avoid commercials because that feels like brain washing(I turn off the sound), especially when they run the same commercials over and over.

We don’t have cable so we don’t get all the different channels. I can only look at headlines on the internet now and again because it has been a problem for me for a long time. A trigger, I guess, so I try to refrain from anything other than reading headlines
