I read the news tonight and it was all pretty bad
I don’t pay attention anymore like I used to. I was getting too stressed out
yeah, i just got myself worried about things
I totally relate
maybe i am supposed to be worried
i dont like worrying about anything but i guess it cant all be brilliant all of the time, the only thing i read that ws any good was that the Queen was resting but i’m still a bit sad about that.
That’s exactly why I don’t read the news. I haven’t read the news for several years now, except when someone links an interesting (but not upsetting) article, on the forum. I read some of those.
I watch but find myself not paying attention, especially the death threats for people who agree with a particular legislative bill that passed.
I would add times have really gotten uncivilized.
I pay attention to the news, but I don’t just read 1 or 2 sources and get trapped in a bubble. I follow a variety of new sources to get wider perspective on the issues
It’s the same crap that was going on last January.
i dont read or watch the news normally, it can affect my thinking
maybe i shouldnt have read the news but i dont like being oblivious to everything
I am different. I try to watch the news every evening and I try to read the newspaper on Sunday. To me the news is very important and makes me feel like I belong to something bigger. I do notice sometimes newscasts dump worry on the audience. I’m not sure why they do that.
i realise that the world can be very dark sometimes but we deserve a bit of light to shine through as well otherwise the darkness wins
instead of just spurting out depressing facts i wish they could be a bit more constructive with it, make it nicer, easier, instead of just looking at problems and describing bad things happening, what about discussing solutions, ways to deal with things.
You might like the PBS news hour on every evening on the Public Broadcasting station.
is that radio? idk
I make it a point to avoid most news. Once in a while I’ll look up local news in my city, or news about movies and mental health issues.
It’s a TV show. Here in the US it is one hour every evening.
It’s like BBC. I listen to NPR here in the states on the radio but in an effort to drown out the voices when I am driving.
The news has been fairly depressing recently, but in light of this thread I suppose its a service to society that one should pay.
I used to watch that when I was young with my parents.
I read a newspaper for the first time in my life last year and I’m 51 years old. I enjoyed it. I have subscribed to a couple of news magazines and currently read TIME magazine. Reading helps my mind. I can shut down in depression and feel like I have no thoughts that I’ve gone completely black no comprehension. I’ve got to continue to read even though I’ve got my guitar and mandolin to do. I have a written correspondence with my cousin so I like to write too, but my personal writings are too dark for anyone to enjoy. One night I rewrote four pages of my life story for four hours straight. I felt so gone when I finished but I came back later.
I’ve read newspapers a couple of times and I also think its enjoyable, the only problem I have is that the major papers are so well written its fun and you tend to believe whats written.
All the journal writing I’ve done is pretty repetitive and also pretty sad.
