I’m on zyprexa and I’ve been on it for maybe 2.5 years. I have tried Latuda but that gave me anxiety. Now I’m considering trying Abilify. Anyone have gone from zyprexa to Abilify and what has been your experience?

I don’t know about Zyprexa,
But I was on Abilify on and off for a decade.
Abilify worked for my symptoms but made me shaky and extremely anxious.
Had to be put on benzos now I’m physically dependent on those.
It also made my hair fall out en masse.
I mean, not all my hair fell out, but a good 25% did.
I’m a woman, so it was a ■■■■■■■ big deal.
It’s not all bad,
Like I said the symptoms were under control.

Is anxiety common with Abilify? I tried latuda and it made me anxious. If anxiety is common with Abilify I’m having second thoughts about trying it.
Anxiety is common with Abilify.
At least that’s what my doctor said.
But it may be worth a shot.
These meds treat everyone differently.

Abilify made me extremely anxious and paranoid.
Anxiety is a common side effect with Abilify.
I’m another one who was very anxious on Abilify. Was on it nearly a year and was constantly jumping out of my skin. Startled even easier than normal and constantly had racing thoughts. My pdoc back then wouldn’t give me Klonopin, so I finally said I’d been through enough and needed to change meds.
I also gained 50 pounds on it.

Olanzapine made me sleepy and hungry at 10mg and it worked for my symptoms. At 5mg the side effects were manageable, but the symptoms weren’t. I went to aripiprazole next and it gave me mad akathesia at 10mg and didn’t handle my symptoms properly. I also couldn’t drink alcohol or caffeine without having a breakdown, which wasn’t such a bad thing as it forced me to stay healthy. However I couldn’t work as I was too agitated.
IMHO olanzapine was easier to live with, and at 5mg I could control my weight. Everyone is different though so you may find aripiprazole works for you.
What are your reasons for changing meds?

I think Abilify works–it is especially effective it seems like against severe depression.
My preference is zyprexa Latuda and Abilify both gave me tremors and I had to take other medication for that but it didn’t help much. Zyprexa and seroquel seem to do it for me.
