If you were broke, in a completely unfurnished apartment/house and

I gave you 1000 dollars to buy everything u would need for the next 6 months. What would you buy?

Assuming that food is paid for by food stamps or whatever other method and utilities are paid for.

This house/apartment is completely empty.

Facebook and other places sometimes have free second hand furniture.

I’d buy a bean bag chair and a sleeping mat, and I’d spend the rest on a decent tv.

im not big on furniture and decor either but ive never had my own place, i would be fine with living like that as long as i can play my games, read my books, food in the fridge, i rather actually have more open space i used to sleep on my homies floor as a kid and its the best memories of my life

Where I live for 1000 dollars I think I could get :

A used refrigerator 150

A cheap microwave 65

A television 100

One second hand chair

A small used table

Cheap silverware 30 dollars

and finally, a single size bed (which would eat up whatever money is left)

Beds are really expensive

I bought a nice espresso color futon for about $130, a heavy duty cot with a mattress for about $80, it’s in the bedroom. You could find a comforter for about $20. I bought an end table for $15 for my TV. You can get a TV for about $75. A rocker recliner for about $300. I only spent about $620. Maybe another comforter. About $10 worth of cleaning products. Maybe you have a comforter already?

I’ve been completely broke with a child in a 400 sq ft apartment that only had one bed for her. I bought an air mattress for myself, and a cheap outdoor loveseat for my living room.

If I had it to do over, I’d get an actual couch meant for indoor use that was at least moderately comfortable on either clearance or used.

I’d spend money on cooking supplies, dishes, posters to put on the walls (they’re cheap but can still be nice), a used table and chairs from a garage sale, and a tv and internet.

You can do a lot with cheap kitchen tools and free/thrift opportunities. My trailer kitchen was built for pennies on the dollar, the only expensive parts being the outdoor cooking appliances and stands.

Small gas grill and two burner propane stove.

I agree @shutterbug . I got my pots and pans from a garage said and received my dishes as a gift. I should have thought of that. My bad.

I would lend the money out at interest until I got 4G’s then I’d splurge on the strip club half of it. Then buy all of my furniture on temu.
