If you use facebook, does it just alienate you?

Nothing but politics and negativity in my feed.

I need to either delete my account or take a long break.

I do see the good for facebook though. For old family to be reunited, stay in touch with old friends. Stuff like that.

I donā€™t use it much, old neighbor is traveling so watching his posts but other than that donā€™t really have anyone on there

I donā€™t stay in touch with people very well so FB is good for that, but Iā€™ve blocked so many people recently because of politics that I probably should take a break. Itā€™s a chaotic forum.

I have just over 100 fb friends but I have unfollowed about 90% of them. Some people can post the biggest lot of crap. Some peopleā€™s posts are triggering because of their strong convictions on politics or religion etc.

Yes it makes me feel alienated

I use a fake name on mine as a experiment, works better no one can find me unless I want them to

Using a fake name is a pretty smart idea.

I agree @Hedgehog it really is chaotic. And I find a lot of people use it more to push a narcissistic agenda, rather than check on other people to see how theyā€™re doing.

what I found weird was on my real name there is a lot of friend suggestions from people all over the world, that I have no idea who they are, on my fake name one not a single friend suggestion, seems odd

@anon84763962 I deleted mine then opened up a new account. Now I wish I never even bothered.

That does seem odd. Hmmmm makes you wonder how the FB software is engineered. :nerd:

I unfollowed all my friends and hide my posts. My feed is just pages I follow.

I never get spam, itā€™s weird. I guess I am somewhat under the radar :smirk:

Thatā€™s a bummer you donā€™t have that opportunity to share your poems though.

I had Facebook when it first came out, then deleted it when my wife and I got together because she was bothered by all the girls that would contact me on there. Started a new one years later when her and I were having problems, then during my psychotic break I deleted it because I got too paranoid. Itā€™s been a couple years, but I donā€™t miss it and have no intention of signing back up.

Makes sense @Jimbob I had to unfollow a friend of mine I was in the service with. It makes me kind of sad. But his post during the election were so polemic and upsetting I was paranoid he was going to be investigated.

@anon68237654 Yeah when I deleted mine I really didnā€™t miss it. I signed up again because I lost a bunch of phone numbers and didnā€™t know how to get a hold of a relative.

Also, I sent my own father a friend request and he ignored it :disappointed:
