If a crockpot recipe calls for

cooked chicken and I put in raw chicken, and the recipe calls to cook it on low for 5 hours, will it cook the chicken? I’m afraid I ruined the recipe.

Nobody has an answer?

In the oven yes it will cook slowly. On a pan I would cut it in half to reduce it’s thickness and slow cook it like that for a few hours. All is possible :slightly_smiling_face:

I would just cook it longer. Maybe check the doneness of the chicken at 5 hours and see how it is. If you have to you could always take the chicken out and finish cooking it in the oven then add it back in.

Can I put a crockpot ceramic in the oven? I don’t think I can put the lid in there.

I’d be surprised if it didnt cook, 5 hours is a heck of a long time.

Do you have a meat thermometer? If so, at 5 hours takethe biggest piece and check the temperature of the chicken. If it’s not hot enough (165 degrees Fahrenheit) cook it longer. 165 degrees Fahrenheit is 74 degrees Celsius

DO NOT put your ceramic crock pot in the oven !!

It should be cooked

It’ll cook. I’ve cooked chicken from frozen in 5 or 6 hours

it should cook in a crock pot if its cut up. make sure you get a decent boiling simmer in there. but it is wise to at least brown meat first if you think of it.

All the chicken is raw and cut up into tiny pieces and evenly spread out.

It will be fine. If the chicken is frozen leave it for a bit longer. I rarely cook chicken before putting in crock pot
