So I’ve been on the drug for about 4 months now and it seems like the benefits increase over time. The benefits are still modest but I’m having a lot more success controlling my thoughts. CBT which never clicked in the past for me is starting to really have an impact on controlling my generalized and social anxiety, it’s much easier to catch myself spiraling. I think this drug will play a big part in helping people get more out therapy and self help when/if it gets approved.
Interesting stuff. Any side effects?
None that I’ve noticed. Definitely nothing metabolic.
Maybe I’ll be able to afford it in 20 years
I think it’s technically considered a supplement rather than an actual psychiatric drug so hopefully it won’t be too expensive. Also I don’t know where from your from but the U.S. has historically been very generous when it comes schizophrenics and new meds.
Really? Most new antipsychotics are at least $500- $1000 per month with insurance. I don’t consider that generous.
For example, Vraylar is $1,000/ month with my Medicare insurance
Oh wow, maybe it’s state dependent? I’m on rexulti and don’t pay anything. I’m also on Medicare.
I also realize saying that is a bit obnoxious considering they won’t cover you in the same way. Sorry
@TheLogician do you also have Medicaid?
Yes I think I have both.
That’s why you have great coverage. It’s because of the Medicaid.
I pay almost nothing for Vraylar with medicare. A few dollars for a months supply maybe.
I cant remember the exact amount, because last time dad picked up like 5 prescriptons and I just paid him the total back…we often do it that way…
But I know the last time I picked up a 30 day supply of 1.5 mg myself it was less than 20 dollars.
@Bowens do you qualify for the Extra Help program?
I used to. I know they cancelled paying my medicare premiums with medicaid. That was the only thing I was getting with medicaid recently. I’m not sure if extra help is active anymore or not.
The copays are very low if you get with Medicaid or Extra Help. Our income is just a hair over Extra Help threshold
Honestly, it doesnt look like I qualify for extra help anymore. One of the qualifiers was recieving medicaid payments of medicare premiums. That ended for me.
I have too many assets to qualify based on the other qualifiers…so if its still active, i dont think its right, according to the rules listed.
I don’t know why it’s so expensive for me then. I checked the cost of the newer APs with all the insurances offered in my area. They were all that expensive.
I can do a preauth for a couple of them and have an initial copay of $45. However, 2 months later, have to pay 25% of the total cost of the drugs which are well over $1000 per month. That’s still too much for me. @Bowens
By that do you mean you slimmed down?
No I’m still on all the medication I was on before I started the trial. So I didn’t replace my AP with iclepertin. It’s not an AP. It just enhances cognition. I was just saying I haven’t had any additional weight gain from the med.
