I don’t know if I’ll be with my partner forever and I don’t want to rely on him financially. I mean if something happened to me , he’d be ok. But if something happened to him I want to be ok too.
He’s gonna leave things for his nieces and nephews because we won’t have kids.
My mum will leave me the house but am I going to be able to continue paying to stay there if things don’t work out with me and my partner ?
What about disability? Everyone is different but giving up work and going on the pension over here was a good move for me. I volunteered for years to keep busy but not having the stress of work is a good thing.
I get like £345 for disability a month … Which won’t cover a lot with electricity and things going up … I cannot afford living on my own on disability. That’s why having a job is so important but I’m really struggling. I get basic rate. Plus no idea how long I’ll get it.
I’m worried about how I’ll afford life if my husband dies too. I get very little in disability. Can he get life insurance with you as a beneficiary? That’s all I can think of.
I don’t want to ask him to do things like that I’m not comfortable with relying on him financially in anyway but it looks like I might have to for sometime.
I’m not sure what you mean by “following” but you can change your status to “watching” by clicking drop down menu at bottom of thread that should currently say “tracking”. You can also bookmark thread at bottom of thread as well if you click on “Bookmark”, if you want to keep track of it for later.
I would try to find out if there are other benefits you can apply for. Or support you can get.
Here, there are plenty of perks for people on low income. Moreover £345 sounds really low for a Western country. You’re sure you can’t get more? Even if you live together the minimal amount of welfare you get in Belgium is 800€.
