I wish I had a job

I can’t handle a job. Can anybody relate. I’ve tried at least 5 times, and it didn’t work out.

I’m not sure if I am ready for a job again either Jake, at least not full time. If I were going to get a job again though I would probably try to get my old part time security job back. I don’t think that I could handle my electrical job again. Too much stress.

Do you want a job for financial reasons or feeling productive or, other?

I want a job for giving me something to do. I also wouldn’t mind making money.

You could volunteer if you aren’t concerned about the money so much. Maybe just to get started anyway…

Yeah, I have already tried that…and it didn’t work out. Thanks for the advice though.

Would it impact on your SSDI if you worked?

How bout a home project. Still hard to get motivated.

I already do chores at home. What do you mean if it would impact my SSDI…do you mean it would not be legal to work a certain amount of hours…when I am on SSDI?

if all you want is something to do seek a volunteer job. But since the pay is what is it is don’t expect a lot other than respect from others. It is not hard to find a volunteer job. For a paying job you really have to get it together and prepare to make more concessions in your time than the volunteer one. Being paid can enhance your life more but make sure you can handle the job because most people enhance their lives based on the pay and it’s a harder fall if you lose it.

Well I think SSDI has a program to encourage people work, but if you make more than a certain amount they stop SSDI payments and once you stop working it begins again.

Copy paste.
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments will stop if you are engaged in what Social Security calls “substantial gainful activity .” SGA, as it’s known, is defined in 2021 as earning more than $1,310 a month

I think you can work 9 months within a 5 year period before you have to worry about that.

I thought it was 9 months within the first year?

Don’t ask me, though – I’m definitely not an expert. I’m first applying for SSDI right now.

The reason why a volunteering position didn’t work out, is because…it is just like a job…but you don’t get paid.

@Bowens that is pretty good. I’m not ready to work but I’m struggling with SSDI and making it by so this is Good to know.

Your total earned in that month has to go over a certain amount to count as one of your “trial work” months too.

Why I volunteer. It gives my life some structure and it’s rewarding but I don’t have to go through the stress of working full time. I just can’t do that.

There are more days where I’d like to be retired, I tell ya.

I wish I had a job too.
