I will be participating in a smoking cessation study

At Rutgers and Robert Wood Johnson… (it’s kinda a big deal.)

I will operate in a way whereby I share the things I remember helping the most.

My commitment is 4 months; the study continues after that on their end.

I hope I’m not democratizing info too much, but I’m really excited.

Whatever becomes of the study, I hope you manage to quit or reduce smoking. That would truly be an exploit. I’ve cut back from 15 to 8 cigs a day and I’m pretty happy with myself but I don’t feel ready to quit.

They already imparted something ‘novel’ and ‘new on me.’

I will be wearing their nicotine replacement patches beginning two weeks before my quit date! (They seem to know what they are doing.)

I’m also going to have Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in 8 therapy sessions lasting an hour each; all done virtually.

They are good institutions so I’m happy… and it was brought to my attention through NAMI.(It’s cessation for the mentally ill…).

The fastest way to get off the cigarette is to vape nicotine in my opinion/experience. I was very much a chain smoker.

It’s a burning question I must remember to get their thoughts on…

My therapist who has teenage kids is strictly opposed to vaping; putting it: ‘We know smoking turns your lungs black, we don’t [yet] know what vaping does.’

Still I’m intrigued regarding vaping…

… setting my sights though on quitting nicotine outright and for good.

Did you start to feel better after turning to vape? Do you still vape or were you able to stop doing that also?
