It is a tradition within Indian communities to have your father’s name as your middle names and your husband’s after marriage. So my dad not only gave me his name he gave me his first name , middle name and his dad’s first name … So it just looks extra long on my passport. What was he thinking

I legally changed my name.
My mom named me when I was born and my dad was nowhere to be found.
4 days later my dad came around in a drunken rage demanding I have a different name because he was cheating on my mom with a woman named what my mom named me. So it got changed.
Well, once I was an adult, I changed it back.
My dad still calls me the name he named me. It really gets on my nerves.

I have 3 middle names, which I think is the maximum allowed.
My sister wants to change her last name to that of my mom.

I changed my last name 32 years ago, here in the US it’s pretty easy.

I learned something about blueblood tradition, a child would take the mothers lastname middle name and fathers last name cause the mothers family is so important.

Changed mine a few years back. Cos i was named after my waster of a Father.
You can do it free of charge. But i paid for a Solicitor todo mine - so its registered in London.
