there are several things i want to be accomplished in like musical performance, literary knowledge, a little math and science and a little psychiatry particularly pertaining to us, sz.
i feel like my sz destroyed so many years of my life. unlike elyn saks i couldn’t do hardly anything when i was in the sz mode. i am trying to turn the clock back to prodromal years and turn it all away from my sz. it stole my life away to a great extent.
i can;t help it – i need to try to get back to where i left off… judy
I can relate!!! But its never too late Judy!!! Dont worry about lost time. You can only focus on the future and more importantly the present.
I feel I have a lot of lost time too. And I want to be accomplished in the same areas as you. I lost many years…from 11-25. Now im 29. Now Im getting my life/mind/will back…for like the first time ever. It seems amazing. Even if you are older (Im not sure how old you are),it’s definitely not too late. Good luck…
Anyways time is never really lost. Surely as you regain your mind, you regain your past too. At least in my experience…
gratitude you are very very lucky to be coming out of sz so fast. by me it started at 21 and lasted until about 51. now i am 61 and at least i am on my feet.
you also must be extremely smart. coming out of sz takes will and genius.
i had schiz when i was 19, serving the army, diagnosed in military service. now i am 33 and life became quite ok for me too, and like Gratitude username said, it’s never too late, so long you are still breathing there is still a chance. even when you are 60 years old or 70, life is all about learning, just that are learning from the point of a condition (schizophrenia) you know the saying? “live old and learning til old age” it applies to all. it’s about what you “accomplished” at the end of your life, that’s the main point we should focus on, not on the past, not where you are at now, but where will you land your final destination at, that’s the most important part. Don’t despair, don’t be discouraged ^^ keep trying and something will happen ^^. Good luck and be blessed ^^.
I think its about the journey man!!! Like we have the bad, we have the good…but its all for all and none for null.
But yes I agree the maslows hierarchy of needs the final step is sense of accomplishment. like at the end of your life if you can think back and say you had a good life. The bad times are inevitable. But you learned from it and feel accomplished. That is the real fulfillment.
My uncle when he was dying said to his wife “We had a good life”.
I think that is a beautiful metaphor for an accomplished life.
Hey Gratitude, yes what you said is true. You are a possible person and this forum needs positive people around to pull everyone’s mood up ^^ so thanks for being around =D
