i feel like every couple years or more that i am able to do something im proud of as far as achieving something i enjoy doing, can you guys relate to that and list examples?
Got married, retired, quit smoking.
Got my Master’s degree and passed the Registered Dietitian exam…then got fired after 5 months cuz I got committed twice from the stress. Haven’t worked since…
yea i actually had my first breakdown after my first year of college and completing a certificate program. i cant handle too much stress either
Milestones I’ve achieved with sza:
I graduated from nursing college with both an associate and a bachelor’s degree.
I recorded three easy listening musical albums with my own original compositions.
I won recognition for two of those albums from YouTube.com
I achieved my initial goal of playing the great piano masterworks on the piano.
My next goal is to play the piano/ keyboard at performance level.
Have any of you guys ever experienced a milestone achievement in your life with sz?
It is only my first year post illness and I don’t know if I have achieved much. I worked for 3 months and completed therapy and a Dvr class and a support group class and made new friends and a boyfriend and got certified to substitute teach.
I finished my degree after being psychotic for several months. I have no idea how I did it but one month after graduating I wound up in the ER and spent two weeks in hospital.
Not yet, but I will.
That’s kinda like me. I signed up for my Master’s program when I was psychotic. God only knows how I’ve been able to do it.
Been working for more than thirty years Lived independently for 20 years including finding my own places to live. Been driving since 1997. Was best man at my dads wedding. Gotten some good grades at college. Helped out my sister when she started her own business awhile back. I didn’t do sh*t before I got ill. Now everything I do with schizophrenia is a milestone compared to everything before age 19. I surprise myself constantly with what I do in a typical day.
They say you can’t rest on your laurels. Screw it, I’m tired after having schizophrenia for 38 years and I am going to rest on my laurels one of these days.
@77nick77 I always enjoy your posts.
Thank you @Happy_H.
He is the funniest and imo the most well written.
And thank you too @Tyme.
Well my milestone is making a new friend and getting in his car to go to Celebrate Recovery meetings. Last night I got in a pickup truck with him and 2 other guys and went to an AA meeting 20 miles away. Chris who everyone knows was speaking.
I achieved my Batchelor degree in civil engineering, Married, I got promoted in engineering cedar from clerk, recently I bought a house.
I have… I was able to work for 6 consecutive months, 2 months at a bakery almost full-time then transitioned into part-time at a call center for 4 months. The longest I’ve worked is about 2 years, 6 days a week but that was before my illness.
I was able to complete a year of college and was put on the honor roll for that year.
I also traveled to Argentina and Mexico(twice).
And I attended a 3-day music festival in a neighbouring province. That was a lot of fun.
Thinking about it now, I was able to do so much during the first few years of recovery, but then I got REALLY sick and now I’m mildly agoraphobic and struggle with things like grocery shopping.
I’m interested in working at a bakery too, was it stressful?
It was probably the least stressful job I’ve ever had because we had very little staff, so everyone was very close and supportive, I even disclosed my disability to one of the girls. I worked the counter but the baker who worked there also enjoyed it.
