I think it’s totally psychological, but I’m so

Hungry today! It’s the 1st day of my dairy free, gluten free diet.

For breakfast, I had 1 cup cooked oats and a few dried cranberries with cinnamon.

For lunch I had 4 cups romaine lettuce, 2 slices of tomatoes, 4 Kalamata olives, and 3 Oz of grilled chicken breast with olive oil and herbs.

For a snack, I had 1 tbsp if airpopped popcorn, lightly salted and a 1/4 cup of roasted peanuts.

I’m about to make dinner. Man I’m hungry!!! It’s enough food though so far so I think it’s totally psychological

Yeah, it will take a few days for your stomach to shrink. But it will get easier. I totally sympathize.

I just cannot lose weight on these meds, practically starved past couple days and no weight loss. Been cutting down for weeks, lost about 5lbs but its painstakingly slow. Ive resigned to the fact its simply not possible unless i exercised all day and never hardly ate, blah, i used to lose weight easily before meds

@anon29983254 , when I ate 1200 calories per day and exercised a few times a week, I lost 100 pounds in a year (45kg). It’s hard, but it worked. Males should eat no less than 1500 calories per day, and females no less than 1200. It is possible to lose on these meds, but it is very hard and takes a ton of work and willpower. I’m trying to get back there now.

@anon55031185 , thanks.

I’m in a weight management program. I started in the spring, and so far, I’m at 12 lbs. That is 12 lbs gained not lost. I started seroquel/quetiapine and abilify/aripiprazole shortly before the weight program. I need to add physical activity, though. I’m looking for a recumbent bike. Fingers crossed!

I hope the bike helps you @Happy_H . It’s so discouraging when you really try and it doesn’t work

Thanks, @LilyoftheValley! I mess up a lot, but my overall eating is so much better.

I know it’s hard, but focus on that because that’s what matters and it means you’re doing well. I tend to focus on the negative when it comes to myself. I’m trying to change that inner dialogue.

Positive self talk really lifts you up. Even if you have people saying negative things about you, it doesn’t matter. What matters is what you think about yourself because you are strong and worthy of love and only you have control of your whole mind, body and spirit. Respect yourself, and then you can demand respect from others with confidence.

My therapist gave me a list of positive affirmations to say to myself everyday. I’ve been doing it for a couple months now. The only one I believe is that I can learn from my mistakes. There’s got to be more to it than just saying positive things to yourself that you don’t believe

When you are speaking positively about yourself, look at your strengths. What are you good at doing? You have so many strengths. Let me list the ones I can think of.

  1. You are very kind. You have have something nice to say about somebody here.

  2. You are dedicated. You have a family with disabilities. You are there from them even at night for your daughter.

  3. You have compassion. You sympathize with people here and let them know you care.

  4. You are a good listener. You listen to people and remember their details. You check on people later to ask how they are doing.

  5. You are Welcoming. You are welcoming to new users.

  6. You enjoy laughing and have a great sense of humor.

  7. You have strength. Despite your illness you manage it as well as you can.

  8. You have fortitude. You face adversity with your bladder problems head on.

  9. You are good with money, with the little you have.

  10. Finally, you lost 100 lbs through determination and hard work. You have a strong work ethic. When you commit to something you see it through.

So all these are true because I see this and we don’t even know each other in irl. So tell yourself these affirmations because they are true.
