I think I might lose my pip benefits

Univeral Credit is being rolled out now but it’s gradual. Think they complete it in 2021. I think current ESA Support Group claiments are being left until last.

Forgot to mention if you still live with parents then you should see an increase in your benefit money, I think about £25. That’s if your in the support group equivalent. Don’t take my word for this I could be wrong you would have to look into it yourself to be sure.

Thanks for reminding me, I am planning on moving out so I would have to update benefits of that I suppose.

Mine went down with the switch to UC.

The new benefit system is a joke, they should have never tried reforming it.

I don’t understand why they did it. Its not like we all suddenly get same benefit so why did they do it there must be a reason

Thanks for the information. Pleased to know that there will be a replacement of the Severe Disablement Allowance for current claimants.

I have heard it is not set up for people with mental health problems and has led people to think about suicide because it is so stressful.

That’s sad.
I did not know that tbh.

How do you know your benefits might go down?

Just because my condition has changed somewhat eg motivation with hygiene and clothing. But then again I have relapsed recently so I don’t know plus just got back on meds. Its just a possibility I suppose so just in case I lose it, I need to be prepared mentally for that :((.

I’d be happier if any decision was based primarily on a mental health professional’s say so. It is so wrong that it is based very much on the say so of people whose knowledge of mental illness could be written on a postage stamp with room to spare.

Yea they didn’t seem too knowledgeable on my condition at the face to face, from looking at the notes they made on me.

When you say you have psychotic episodes, does that mean you have a diagnosis of psychosis?

I think one of the worst things is they cherry pick what counts re qualifying you re the difficulties you have. You can use it if you get it for help around the house, but if you have difficulty with those things they don’t count re your disability needs when making a claim.

Well my first diagnosis was psychotic episide
Now that I’ve had another one
I dunno if that’s now just called psychosis.
What defines scz I don’t even know

oh ok, the doctors might be hoping it goes away, a diagnosis would of helped a lot with getting benefits.

I don’t understand. I do see though that their criteria is very specific though for being eligible.

Oh okay. I wasn’t sure if they notified you. It’s great that you are more motivated now! Awesome! Go, you!

Lol Thankyou Louise.
Yes I have more motivation than before although I need to stop being a lazy person sometimes. It’s so easy for me to just sit with my phone and eat dammit.
