I saw my peer today

She was late but she made up for it in time spent together. We talked a little about how I was taken against my will and sexually abused for 3 months when I was 19. We talked about ways to try to deal with it. I’m having a hard time taking that first step though. It sucks.

That’s great that you talked about it. Take it slow because even talking about those kind of things can really bring up a lot of emotions.

Yeah. It did bring up a lot. At some point I need to talk about it when I’m with my counselor

Hi @LilyoftheValley, I’ve just read this thread and would like to say I understand how you must be feeling, at least a little bit. Last summer, my dear wife who is 54 told me about how she was sexually assaulted when she was 11 and coming home from school one day. Her parents were splitting up at the time and her home life was in turmoil so she never told anyone ever about it until she told me one night last summer. My wife’s journey through life has been a genuine struggle with all kinds of twists and turns but she kept up with the struggle sometimes winning and sometimes losing and so often being exhausted but she kept trying with her bruised soul. My wife makes me think of you. By the way she has learned a lot about herself and figured a lot out after her disclosure to me last summer. I suspect more and more will make sense as you discuss your experiences with your trusted support worker. Best of everything on your journey.
